Authentication Failed-

6 posts in this topic

When my game starts to download it ctd's and I get a window saying that my Authentication failed.

I am a member in good standing with a yearly subscription that is up in Jan 07. Is this a common problem?

I hate screwing with the settings so make any potential solution very simple please-

Do you mean this happens while it's downloading a patch, or do you mean when you're loading the game to play it?

List the steps of the process you're talking about and post exactly when this error message appears, and exactly what it says (if more than "authentication failed")

It doesn't say anything about "invalid username or password" or anything like that?

I got the same error twice now (different log in times) when loading the game.

Just went back and relogged with no problems on the second attempt.

Never had that error ever. (day 1 player)

I'm getting several reports of this. We're looking into it. Certainly, there were some issues with our servers on late Sunday evening/Monday morning.

We could use some more information.

Does this happen every time or is it sporadic?

Do you have a firewall that allows "ww2_x86.exe" and "ww2_sse2.exe" access?

Do you have Visual Player Limit set to Low?

Do you have the MS QoS Service uninstalled?

Do you have the Windows XP Firewall disabled?

Very intermittent for me

Firewalls turned off.

Think my visual limit is medium. (at work at moment)

1st time was right after patching.

I got it occasionalyly before the patch. After 1.24 about 50% of the time. Second try always works, so it is not a big deal. I am using SSE2 (although I thought that was unchecked...hmm...) and I have high Visual Player Limit. I have QoS uninstalled and windows firewall on.
