My add/remove programs list had two separate entries for BE after update. Uninstalled one of them which removed both from the list. Start Menu still shows:

Start>Cornered Rate Software>Battleground Europe>Play Online

clicking it brings up an installation registry error.

Yeah that is part of the problem with the old installer. You should be fine after a new full installer.
