Sometimes game paste text from clipboard

Sometimes when I am typing in text the game decides to paste in whatever text I have in the clipboard which could be embarrasing if not noticed before pressing enter. The key that I suspect somehow gets connected to the clipboard is the C key as that is what looks like it is being replaced, personally I would have excpected the V key as that is used in the windows ctrl-V paste command.

I wouldn't MIND the ability to paste text into the game, but I want it done in a consistant and repeatable way.

www.ccleaner.com it'll clear the clipboard and a WHOLE lot more if you tell it to.

It happens to me a lot and it is VERY annoying. I am multitasking oot of the game to take care of my HC mailings, and it is not feasible to clear clipboard all of the time....

Is this a known issue? Or is this happening just for me?

nope same thing happened to me in side chat the other day i didnt notice (as i was flying) that i had put the some web page link in bout 3 times =( oh well im lucky it was just a car tuning site and not pRon or something equaly bad

I am still getting this stupid bug, often several times each evening. I am not the only one either, I see it quite frequently from others as well.

Is it ticketed?

I would love an officially supported way to cut and paste text into the chat, but this random replacement of v with my clipboard it really frustrating. Making an .axis with your bank accountnumber would really suck!

Can't ticket it unless I can replicate it or have something more to go on. I'll ask ramp for any ideas but what I need from you is a walkthrough of how to do it.

It is probably related to something else on your computer as well so what do you guys have in common. I can tell you that the game code has ZERO ability to paste text.

I'm in and out of game and web browser hundreds of times every day and I always have something on my clip board and I have never seen or heard of this.

So, gimmie a little more to go on and I'll see what I can find.

Maybe start with a look in the task bar to see what is running?

Cat out of the bag in barracks. Shift+insert instead of ctrl+v does it.

this happens in the game now, not just 1.30.

with me all i need to do is press C I believe and what ever url I had copied will paste in the text. It doesn't do it all the time though, seems random.

It happens when typing plain text, not pressing any shift/alt/ctrl/altgr keys, just a plain v gets replaced. And if you are like me and like to write long texts and not watching the screen while typing then if the v is in the begining of the message one dont always notice what have happened and accidently sends out garbeled messages.

I see it on channels every night, and to me personally it happens atleast every second day multiple times, and this on all computers that I use for playing the game. I seen the shift-insert being mentioned in the barracks and I welcome a consistent way of pasting text, just don't want it to happen randomly when pressing the letter v.

i wasn;t aware of shift+insert but that's a base windows command so I'm not worried about it. What I want to fix is the random insert when pressing c or v.

But I can't fix it until i can do it.

Again, my first thought is some other process running in the back ground. What have ya got?

No, only seen it on the live server. But I see it every day on the channels when people post more or less embarrasing links and text sending them out to all to laugh at...

I confirm this, the clipboard is copied into chat bar when you hit certain key(i would though of V)

Yeah, it happens on live all the time. Must be daily we see someone pasting something when typing.

Maybe it's related to Alt-tabbing.

Still, it's weird, since ctrl-v is the key-combo, not ALT+v...

Not after every Alt-Tab and not after every V-key press.

If it happens, it's always been key V for me. Sometimes I copy a "v" character in the clipboard, so if it happens to PASTE_CLIPBOARD it wont matter that much. Usually if this happened, i was writing something, normal senteces with Capital letters, requiring some shift-presses to insert letters in capital or special characters, like $miss (dollar sign requires "Alt Gr" and "4" in Finnish/Scandic layout. "Alt Gr" is next to space, right side)

OS: Windows XP and Windows 7

Alt-tabbed in Windows: i'm often chatting in IRC (putty-shell window) or browsing generally, forums etc. I copy and paste some links (to and from) in Forum posts or IRC-chats quite often, so the clipboard is usually filled with URLs.

If the clipboard has something else, UI related, like file/folder locations from Windows Explorer for example, they wont be pasted in the game.

Not sure what you mean by "in the UI or in game" ?

- in game, if i remember correctly, it happens whether i'm spawned in or not.

My keyboard is an "old" normal Logitech keyboard with special "Launch browser/Mail/Messenger/Webcam etc" keys, Media controls, volume and mute keys.

But I don't run any Logitech special programs to access the key, so I don't think it is a problem here.

2. Press and release "AltGr"

3. Press and release "v"

You can actually press extra keys between AltGr and v. AltGr "enables" this bug and if you later in the same chat line type a word with the letter "v" this bug triggers.

I just replicated it on the live server.

I have a laptop with a "danish" keybord.

I copied some text in windows (xp)

I loged in to the live server.

pressed "enter" to activate the chat...

hit Alt Gr

hit a few random letters

hit "v" and the copied text was added.

I cleared the chatwindow and hit "v" and got a v.

the I hit Alt Gr again and hit v and got the text.

So If you at any time hit Alt Gr you will get the copied text the first time you hit "v"

I then exited the game and started the 1.31 offline beta...

and its the same.

So this seems to be only Danish keyboards and is triggered by the AltGr key?

Is this the same as the Right - Alt key on English style keyboards?

I was uable to replciate in English keyboard but not sure I am doing it right.

I couldn't get any combination to work to print from the clipboard.

Can anyone with English keyboard replicate?

This exact method triggers the bug with Swedish keyboard. Strange if it does not trigger on English keyboards as no special keys are involved and the AltGr keys are located in the same place.

When you guys moved to Unicode, are you doing any codepage stuff to force strings into certain encoding formats?
