Alt tabbing out of game #3579

Running windows 7 my client behaves differently in 1.30 and 1.31 when pressing alt-tab

In 1.30 I get a small window with miniatures all my applications + one extra showing the desktop. This means if I only have the game running I see the game and the desktop meaning I can alt-tab out.

In 1.31.0.30 if I only have the game running the window won't appear at all when pressing-alt tab, if I have any other program running the window appears but no "extra" desktop miniature... In the case when no window appears I can't alt-tab out.

I have tried running the game in no compatibility mode as well as in vista servicepack 2 compatibility mode, no difference for me.

Related to this ticket? #3796

When i load the game, my windows reverts to the standard Windows 7 Basic default, ( no transparency etc.) It also tells me that this program doesn't support the features of windows.

Note: I am running dual screens, i don't recall this happening with one monitor.

Running With one screen everything looks and work perfectly.

As soon as i have two screens, It goes to the windows basic theme, and alt tab no longer works.

Also, when my resolution is set below what my screen is supposed to be (1920 X 1080) Things seem to work as intended.

Im starting to think this might just be a windows 7 issue, and something you guys can't do a thing about.

Alt-tab still not working in .35.

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.

If you have no other windows open alt-tab does nothing in beta.

In windows 7 there is always a "show desktop" "window" in the alt-tab cycle so when pressing alt-tab with only BE running you should get two windows to alt-tab between: Show Desktop and BE.

This is very annoying and seems like a huge step backwards in Windows 7 support.

In 1.30 alt-tab works normal and I even get the live-preview of the BE while in a alt-tab cycle. That is, the small picture of BE is updating with live view of the game even while rotating through the alt-tab cycle.

Only way to get out to the windows desktop in beta is to press ctrl-alt-delete and select "Start Task Manager". That way you get a second window open and you can now alt-tab with 3 windows showing during alt tab: BE, Task Manager and Desktop.

That's weird, I'm running Win7 with Aero turned on and I can't alt-tab with the latest beta build.

diff ways to get to it .. but i went desktop / right click / personalize / then pciked the win7 aero theme .. dont have a clue why 1 theme would do X and another theme would do Y. Sorry for the delayed response i dont come to the forums much .. except then im trying to fix something which is rarely thankfuly.

testing in beta .. same...

the basic and high contrast themes (tested 2 ) stop the graphical move back to windows but i think move the interface .. if that makes sense

mouse is moving around but can not effect changes to the wwiionline client - although the cursor does interact with menu items .. they change colour or are highlighted with mouse movement -- but if you go madly clicking all over the place and get back to the windows environment you will likely see various random windows have been opened up.

not sure if my box is doing things differently - can post specs if needed.

I would not expect the basic themes to alt tab as those are XP based and it does not work in XP if you have nothing else running.

If you can alt-tab in aero with no other programs running then that is all the functionality I am looking for.

This is a windows 7 issue, not a wwiionline issue. I have the same issue when running darkfall on windows 7 and no other apps running. Should be closed.

How can this be a Windows 7 issue when it works with 1.30?

If 1.31 is supposed to bring support for windows 7 I sure don't want it because 1.30 works better in Windows 7 then current beta.

Still no change in .37

Do I have to post a video of the difference?

Running 1.30 and 1.31 together I can alt tab to desktop no problem. 2 1.30 instances again no problem. 2 1.31 instances, I can alt tab between them without issues but cant alt tab to desktop. Single 1.31 instance, cant alt tab to desktop.
