1.31 FPS craziness

When I was testing 1.31 today running through the prescribed testing, I found that when looking straight forward at anything, I would get anywhere from 20 - 30 FPS (a far cray short of my 120 FPS in the live game, even during big battles) However, if I look to the side, like with infantry using the Q and E buttons, or while, using the hat on my joystick to look left or right, I get 90 FPS.

There seems to be a massive leak of frames when looking straight rather than to the side.

They haven't finished some of the culling routines that will help FPS overall, buildings are quite an FPS drain do they go out of view?

Looking down the tank course next to the spawn in the training area (shadow test) I get 63 looking forwards, 106 looking left and 89 looking right.

Understandable, there are more trees, closer, looking forward than left or right.
