Focus Test: Infantry Fight

When:

Wednesday 12pm to 4pm

Thursday 6pm to 10pm

What:

We're staging and infantry only (and trucks natch) battle to test a variety of changes in 1.31.

All players on the server are expected to participate in the test.

Players who interfere with the test will be dealt with severely.

Special Instructions:

Initially, the test will take place in the Nijmegen/Lent region because it's a short distance between CP's and makes for a good infantry fight. Hatert is also going to be in the mix because it has an airfield which needs it's capture, paratroop spawn and no-fire functionality tested.

There will likely be no other AO's in which to play thereby forcing play to partake in the testing. Please don't be obstructionist WRT partaking in what we might be asking players to do in order to facilitate testing for certain results and situations. We won't make it complex but we may well have special needs that testing needs to observe or verfiy/validate.

All armour will be disabled from spawning during the course of the actual infantry focus testing. Before and afterwards armour will be available as normal.

Primary Feedback Needed

Focus should be placed on the following game mechanics. General feedback on the event can be posted here. Specific threads will be created for feedback on issues listed below. Please keep your feedback high on signal and low on noise.

Capture Mechanism

The current capture rules are as follows:

- attackers can capture by being in a flag building

- the number of attackers does not affect capture speed

- contested buildings will automatically slowly revert to uncontested when no attackers are in the flag building

- defenders can speed the liberation of the flag building by being present when there are no attackers present

- the number of defenders does not affect the speed of liberation

No Fire Zone

Players who are in an enemy infantry spawn point will receive a message that they are unable to fire.

Also keep in mind that there are several other changes that have been made to infantry play. Please keep these items in mind while participating in the Focus Test. Feedback threads will be created for you to focus your discussions. We also plan a poll on infantry issues to be released this Friday. Also, if you have not participated in the performance poll yet, please do so now.

Infantry Weapon Changes

  • SMG recoil reduction
  • Auto undeploy for deployed weapons when you move
  • Undeploy actions no longer hamper movement

Infantry Stamina Changes

  • Stamina gain and loss have been adjusted
  • New heart beat effects
  • New breathing effects

Infantry Movement

  • New idle animations
  • New combat stance
  • New aim popup
  • New third person blending
  • Reduced turning while sprinting
  • Reduced ability to quickly and repeatedly change stances

Terrain Changes

  • New infantry revetments
  • New Bushes and Grass fields
  • New low clutter
  • New buildings
  • New berms and stone wals and fallen logs

Infantry Effects

  • Ragdoll death animations
  • Infantry corpses
  • Blood splats
