I would reduce turning speed while sprinting even more.

Also reducing speed when you jog/run and change direction.(think that is in already a bit)

Movement is smoother.

Didn't notice anything really buggy.

the animations are much smoother, but it looks a lot like the enemy is moving in slow motion. i understand its a neccessary trade off, just an obsersvation.

overall it seems that i don't have to adjust for lag or warping nearly as much as before.

Infantry Movement

* New idle animations fine, no complaints

* New combat stance fine, no complaints

* New aim popup really nice little touch, love it

* New third person blending no complaints, need to play more to get a better feel for it

* Reduced turning while sprinting this is fine, but the 'sticky' period afterwards is far too long

* Reduced ability to quickly and repeatedly change stances can see why this was done, however don't agree that changing between standing and crouching should lock you out so easily as crouch/prone or prone/standing. Perhaps the code is not flexible enough to allow for different results though.

* River crossing didn't try it

* Smooth movement need to play more

Overall excellent. Movement is much smoother, stance is fine, 3rd person view good also.

Aim popup I found very annoying often resulting in a blocked view that isnt blocked when unaimed :s

Turning while sprinting feels overdone, maybe try it with a bit less sensitivity try 75% of current ?

Climbing out of the river was definitely more challenging. I'd say I had to be less than 20m away from a bridge in order to be able to complete the climb out.

Regarding the sprint I have some issues with it being inconsistent depending on your actions prior to releasing sprint. For example:

If you are spinting obviously you're movement is very limited. But then if you release the sprint button and start a new movement, you can turn fine again.

BUT

If you are sprinting and making a turn, and then release the sprint button while continuing to turn the mouse, you're movement will stay "locked" in slow turn mode for a good second or two, no matter what you do. This just feels bad when it happens.

Also, I know it wouldn't make this patch, but I have a feeling that the new sprint "lock" will confuse a lot of noobs, who will think it is just wonky controls, which isn't a good thing. There is nothing about sprinting as it now to give you any reason to feel like it should control like that, intuitively. I think for the future maybe a good idea would be to give the head view some extra shake and head bob while sprinting - this would give the player that "sprinting full speed ahead with my head down" feel that would explain why you can't turn very well.

The sprint as it is now is basically a first person version of the sprint mode in gears of war, but without that "run for your life" feel to it.

I like the other changes, although I have seen some pretty bizarre looking motion when infantry are jumping off buildings. (very floaty, like they are feathers) I don't know if that is related to the new 3rd person smoothing or not.

* New idle animations -- did not get to see yet due to lack of encounters with other inf in online mode

* New combat stance -- saw in despawn screen, this looks good and much more soldierly than older stances.

* New aim popup -- I haven't figured out what this is yet.

* New third person blending -- did not get to see yet due to lack of encounters with other inf in online mode

* Reduced turning while sprinting -- this I loved. I am so tired of the counter-strike bunny hopping techniques that go in 1.30- that I could just scream.

* Reduced ability to quickly and repeatedly change stances -- did not try to invoke this due to the Mac "can't change stance" bug

* River crossing -- could cross, could not get out and I think it's related to the steepness of the bank.

* Smooth movement -- must say this is really well done , just like reduced turning

Personally i think the sprint movement reduction needs more feedback, all it feels to me right now is my mouse sensitivity is too low.

I didn't test the river bit, will try that out tomorrow.

Everything else seemed fine. Stamina recovery is a bit to quick when lying prone with binocs out (almost instantaneous)

I liked it overall, 3rd person was smooth no warping to be seen at all.

Regarding the aim popup, its good in bushes, since u can now pop over that leaf obscuring your view, but i think with some windows etc, it can be a issue?

The third person animations/blending are truly excellent; the infantry no longer seem like wooden puppets, they really seem more alive and real. And...for the first time in this game's history I can finally say that ice-skating and warping seem to be essentially eliminated!!

Reduced turning while sprinting also helps immensely with eliminating the warping, but I would agree with rubbish above; it would probably ideal to reduce the amount of time it takes for the mouse sensitivity to return to normal when you stop running.

1. Issue an emote, eg "Double time".

2. Try to sprint.

3. Look silly walking slowly forward, until the emote times out, while the the guys around you haul ***.

sprinting seemed ok to me. givin our soldiers are carrying a combat load i would expect things to get a bit sluggish. i still dont like the combat stance. it just looks overdone like the guy is ready to hardcore break wind. prone crouch transistions were good if you take into account he has gear on.

sometimes inf seems to run at a 45degre angle forward... like they are swimming. looks funny.

I think its when you sprint from kneeling.

3rd person view is good and bad some players look fine others are running around stiff (no moving parts arms legs ect) and at a angle some prone inf are crawling fine others are stiff and the face is looking into the ground.

* New idle animations

Seen only a few looks good.

* New combat stance

Like it bug think its a bit buggy. seems that players would be at a slant angle.

* New aim popup

Didnt like it too much when i was in bushes. but i love it for buildings and works good over the radial clutter

* New third person blending

Not sure what this means.

* Reduced turning while sprinting

I think it could be a touch faster, to stay in tune with other FPS

* Reduced ability to quickly and repeatedly change stances

Like it

There was something buggy, I would go into a walk/weapon lowered, couldn't quite figure out what would cause this. running/turning? Changing weapons would take me out of this mode.

love the new popup when standing, wish it was only for that and not crouching/prone, since typically your head would move down slightly to sight down a barrel in these cases.

I disagree with your first statement. I think the turning speed has been overly reduced. Go outside, sprint, and try running in a circle. Guarantee you it doesn't take that long to turn all the way around. I think you should be able to turn just as fast as before, however, I think it should be like your second statement. Speed should be reduced more and more the fast you try to turn.

I can positively verify that the 45 and 30 degree angle stuff is not due to sprinting from a kneel necessarily.

I stood by the MS, and *many* players spawned in slanted, and stayed slanted the whole time they were in.

Motormouth took a screeny of me slanted, and I *definitely* never changed my stance, because I'm one of the Mac users with the "stance change" bug, so that if I ever change stance my gun won't fire. So I stayed standing the whole time I was in the infantry test.

Seems like I read that one feature of 1.31 is that dialup connections are no longer supported. That would go a long way towards eliminating warping and other weirdness in itself. It only takes a couple of people on 56k connections to hose up a game.
