Feedback - Shadows

Overall I think the new shadows are awesome. The immersion factor created by shadows and self-shadows is often underestimated. The areas under the new trees and berms around town are 100 times better than before. That being said though, little has been done to increase the immersion of city battles (as it applies to shadows, removing the big clunky box buildings helps for sure). I'm not sure how taxing self-shadows and cast shadows through a city would be on framerates and performance but the level of immersion is exponential when good shadowing is added.

-Infantry shadows, even on high, are simply blobs on the ground.

-Buildings don't cast any shadows on the ground.

See self-shadows on the new AI tower but no shadows cast on the ground, no other building shadows cast on the ground:

Shadows are often easily scalable in options so it would be nice to include the option to see shadows on almost everything.

I agree that building shadows will make a huge step forward. I believe that rick replied to a question on this a while back before the offline beta started. He said they were looking into it, but were not certain it would make it into this patch. At that point in time a few screen shots had been released showing tree shadows. They did seem to be working on it at the time for buildings though.
