awesome but the fighting needs to be more structured or focused aka no taking towns that boot the otherside.

You are doing a great job CRS, but it will not complete until you have updated all models, including infantry of the game, and, when new toys arrive & graphics dont suck anymore, in this point you will acieve success...

also performance needs tweaking.

Allright! Here we go :)

I had a Crash To Desktop when trying to spawn a Blen at the Antwerpen Airfield.

I had missing ground planes around the same area. It happened after playing for roughly 10 minutes after the CTD.

I also saw misplaced ground elements on the Atnwerpen Airfield.

Images can be viewed here: http://picasaweb.google.com/nonlinearsound/BattlegroundEurope?feat=directlink

At low fps, controls behave strange (they seem to not to receive enough input messages) especially at high zooms in the tanks instrument views.

The tracers were too big. Seem that they've been in the wrong scaling. It was hard to hit targets. But I like the idea of the new rendering of tracers, it looks very cool when viewing from a side point of view.

Is the cloud layer supposed to be of zero thickness? It would be very nice if it would be some kind of space with a bigger height so that you would need to fly through for a couple of seconds with limited view. Allthough there could be problems with people trying ti hide in their too long and others complaining. :)

The weather looks cool! No other words! :) Simply cool!

Ground clutter was nice. Also the new trees look very cool. On my iMac (latest model with GT120) I had problems to render it on a good FPS (played at 1280x960x32 - WWII says that I am using a NVIDIA GeForce 9600 X)

Best,

PrintF

When I first laid eyes on 1.31, it was like my body was suddenly enveloped in an armor made of Tactical Bacon. Simply orgasmic!

I think the new terrain/foliage/bldgs is going to be a BIG improvement for the ground game.

The new tall grass is great for infantry.

Just when you think BGE couldn't get more addictive, They bring out 1.31.

Or

When i get my sheep back you will get a rating better than, meh.

:D

orrrrrrr

Finally this game is nicely rounded out with the advent of Submarines and naval air, battle ships and hula skirts?

Immediate impact wow factor : terrain

Something I noticed later on: the delayed ragdoll effect and that it seems to lose "ragdollishness" rather quickly prior to hitting the ground

Ugh factor: the fact that a tracer round is the size of a flying orange greyhound bus

Since I have largely good things to say, let's start with my BIG GRIPE to make sure it is read. :)

Given that the graphics are an order of magnitude better now than they were, Why-O-Why-O-Why-O have the grotesque 2-D soldier representations on the Persona Select screen not been replaced? The legs and boots are out of proportion, I assume as some kind of attempt to provide perspective (FAIL!). The first time I saw the screen over 3 years ago was a wtf moment that made me ask if my brother had played a joke on me by luring me in? I can think of at least two other people who have burst into laughter when they saw these creatures while looking over my shoulder when I was trying to get them to give the game a try. I am not much of a photoshop maven, but there are plenty of appropriate public domain images out on The Internets that could be hammered into much more attractive creatures than what we have now.

Otherwise, I give CRS a 9 out of 10 for where 1.31 is at this point. Build 23 was extremely shakey because of the CTD issue, but that seems to have been resolved and, as of Build 26, I was a happy camper.

As noted, graphical elements are an order of magnitude better and, in general, qualify as modern I think. The introduction of somewhat variable weather is a nice touch and I assume that where there is rain, there could also be snow at some point? The radial clutter stuff needs to be smoothed out some, but there is no point in having it unless there is some degree of forced option, so I am good with the concept.

Muzzle flash needs to be toned down for at least some weapons it seems and the smoke thrown off by AI AAA looked a bit excessive, but on the right track.

The terrain is much better, less like an arcade game on a golf course with planters. More of a 3D effect than previously.

I've not tried the capture stuff. I have just driven a 4g and a Tiger around some and spawned axis snipers.

As far as fps goes, I am in the camp that says use v-sync and get a smooth 60 rather than bounce all over the place. Seems more than adequate thus far altho my hardware will do 100+ in spurts otherwise.

That said, I do think that if I had not recently bought what I would call a midrange gaming system, it would be hard to play in 1.31. That's ok with me now obviously, but there will be some who are stuck with what more or less worked in 1.30 that can't upgrade because of personal $$$ things.

Finally, my assumption is that what we are using for beta still contains a lot of debug code that will be removed or commented out entirely when this reaches GA and overall performance will rise 10-15%. Bottom line is...

GFJ, CRS!

1.31 bursts with unexpected detail and brings a whole new atmosphere to the game. It might be better named: Battleground Europe 2.0!

The beautiful scenery, the immersive environmental effects, the new animations and physics almost made me forget that the sheep have mysteriously disappeared...almost.

-good foliage and trees but need a better terrain

-need more FPS in towns

-Good effects

-Still need a few fix to get the perfect game :)

I've been toying with the offline beta constantly since it became available to the public but spawning and seeing this made it clear how much work has been done and essentially how much it has paid off.

Great potential. Love the rain, and the cloud cover sure changes an air quake situation.

One item that seems to be a bit in short supply is cover for infantry. There seems to be alot of open area, with broken or limited cover for infantry operations.

Looking forward to fixes for a few bugs and we should have some great gaming ahead.

I have a concern also about how "dark" it can get.

During a rainstorm at night, I could not see anything.......Literally.

I was driving a half track and ran into a ditch. I managed to get out of the ditch, and proceeded to drive back into the ditch about 2 minutes later.

I adjusted the gamma on my video, and behold......there was the ditch.

I think dark is good, but if you make it too dark, then people will just gamma their way around it.
