Tank crew has medium red tinged after receiving critical damage, but is still able too zoom, pan up and down, move the turret, steer the tank etc.

Happened both with splash dmg from HE and from a penetrating shot.

Vehicles tested:

PZ4g, PZ3h

asp007 also reported identical results with sherman m4a2

Need clearer report. After they are skull and crossbones DEAD, they can still function ?

Yes, can still pan view, zoom, move turret etc. Steering felt a bit damped down but could still do it. Guns would not fire however.

This is skull and crossbones dead - both bars completely grey.

If they can still deliberately target and hurt an opponent when they are dead, obviously that is a function failure and requires attention.

still got red screen and ability to look around.. no black screen of death..

-4g - shot by atg

tried being sapped and atged..

-results are:

-driver and #4,5 can look around with a red screen. unable to do any functions until the game auto despawns you. (could still see enemy moving around my tank)

-#2 and 3 can see as well with the red screen, but cannot even look around

-instead of getting the usual black screen of death, its just red. that may be why we can still look around.

Doc killed my R35 in or close toVireaux Armybase during his bomb testing. Then I started floating away with my crew all dead in 'red-o-vision'. I was gaining altitude as I saw buildings pass my view then headed upwards through the clouds. I moved several kilometers ESE before finally auto despawing where I saw the R35 in its original position during the death-cam.

I think what's happened here is that they could always look around but the red screen was opaque.

We're going to audit this some so just need to figure out what we want to do.

I don;t really care for red screen death effects, I'd prefer them for hits I guess but fade to black seems the best thing.

I am going to comment that ticket Gophur, .33 build there are issues that are just not right. Proper functionality is once crew are no bars skull and crossbones dead, their view should be a rapidly shrinking circle of black mask culminatuing in full black screen "dead" after about 2 seconds.

For those testing be aware that we're going to have to redo these and we're in the process of doing that now, so things will change as we patch forwards.

Timmy reports that testing shows dead crew men cannot use vehicle controls. Need to confirm this but I'm not in beta ATM.

I was in a 4g exchanging fire with some atgs in the beta today when what appeared to be an HE round hit in front of the tank and killed my gunner (I had his view port open for some reason and assume some shrapnel got him). I mention it because while he couldn't do anything, the screen was not literally black, it was more of a dark grey and I could still see the sight picture, etc. This doesn't sound like what DOC described earlier in the thread, but mebbe that's how it's supposed to work now?
