*Shooting* through them is ok.

Grenades, however.

But I'm ok with the grenades, because they are so hard to use in the game compared to real life, and they do so little damage on average to begin with.

I remember seeing a WWII training video where they put a bucket of water on the other side of a 12" diameter tree and shot the tree with a standard infantryman's rifle. The bucket of water got blasted.

So shooting through the edge of a tree means only a couple inches of outer bark/soft wood (not heartwood) penetration, so I think this is ok.

I know the issue has to do with the collision cylinder (or polygon) being adjusted, because in the live game the collision model is oversized to allow for trees that aren't straight, and different sizes, etc, and we have had a lot of complaints about *not* being able to fire when we are next to a tree.

I think one model has to do for all trees, so some are too big, some are too small, and some are just right, but I might be wrong.

So, all in all, I think this behavior is better than live, and if the choice is this, or an oversized collision model, I prefer this.

now when i think about it it might be as it should. since u can shoot right through engine blocks on trucks with LMGs and such..

but grenades, no it should not be able to go through.
