what now new pc? I have 64 bit dual core procc 5000 +260 ghz , 4 gb ram win 7 64 bit os, nvida 7600 graphics card, im getting 80 - 100 fps on 1.30, im getiing 12=15 fps on 1.31 beta. game runs perfect on 1.30, can even run two accounts at the same time on one pc with alt tab, will barely run 1.31 with major lag and makes me drunk to look at screen, is it going to get better or am i going to have to shell out another six or seven hundred bucks to play when 1.31 goes in effect?

Think the graphics card is subpar and is your bottleneck.. 4gb of mem now adays is also kinda minimum.. You would see a major difference if you upgraded the video card and went to 8gb of mem.. Memory is cheap now so shouldn't be a major issue, video card on the other hand may cost a pretty penny.

i have an nvidia 7800 and i agree with the ugliness of 1.31.

its almost like doom1 .. trees and bushes look very pixelated and blocky. in 1.30 everything is smooth and gorgeous.

lag stutter galore though.. its weird. amd dual core 64 bit 4400 with 4gig ram.

Could it be something with this game and amd 64 bit processors?

thats something i havent thought of, wonder if 64 bit processors is an issue? and your right 1.31 is so dark and gloomy, hard to see, and seems always to be raining or overcast, its too much, not sure I want to play it enough to spend another five or six hundred dollars on new pc.

That's an ancient video card, it came out in 2005. It's possible the quality of your video is directly related to the card.

The constant darkness and rain is not the final word in weather, its just a bug. Most days should be clear.

AMD might be an issue, though I'm not a PC expert. We use the Intel compiler to build the PC exe so it might be non-optimal in places on some AMD processors.

On Windows the (32bit) game can only use 2GB of ram so more than 4 is not going to make any difference.

There are also some performance bugs we still need to fix and some of them are directly related to the number of inf around you. Fixy fixy.

I wouldn't make decisions on not playing based on what you see in a beta - if it was done we'd ship it :-)

Will post this so you guys can hate me

Intel T9300 2.51ghz Dual Core

4gb nVidia Quadro FX3600M 512mb DDR2 PC5300

320gb SATA2 HDD

Windows XP Pro x64

1.30 50-60 FPS solid.

I have tuned 1.31 to give me 30 FPS solid (I can get 60FPS regularly but get hits down to 30, so I decidied to limit it to 30 and have virtually no stutters).

Oh, and I forgot to mention it's a Laptop :D

well' date=' how exactly do you "tune" 1.31 in words we meer mortals can understand?[/quote']

as far as ingame settings I have vsync on.

The rest is done via nVidia's Control Panel for the Quadro card, AA, AF, Triple Buffering, etc until it gave me a steady FPS (+- 5FPS). I found that point around 30FPS below 2KM and on the ground (Airborne is still steady at 60).

7 series video cards like the 7600 GT are considered below minimum specs for v1.31 release, although they can still run the game ... and the beta patch you're looking at is not done yet.

I had an nVidia 7600 GT in my computer until yesterday, so I know exactly how well or not they can run v1.31, and you have to run low visual bells and whistles if you want to stick it out with a 2005 era video card.
