Lost my config files for BE a couple of weeks ago and am now enjoying the re-discovery of the default keymapper configuration.

Why on earth is the tab key used for changing chat window size? Does the Rats never use windows Alt-Tab feature?

Yes we do and I've put in a request to change it but no one can decide what to change it to. I've remapped to alt enter.

Suggestions?

I don't use the resize feature myself (I use mouse to click on the resize button) but I bet others do. If I used the feature I would probably like something that does not require both hands and most likely on the left side of the keyboard. Alt-Enter is kindof a two hands combination.

Is ctrl-tab taken? Actually someone who use the feature should give some input.

I envision a "global" keymap, where we can set, say "throttle" for all aircraft. Having to keymap for each individual unit is a pain.

Right alt makes sense to me. Has my vote.

Right now i have it reversed with the change icon.

Tab to change icon cntrl + i to change chat height.

um, there is a global keymapper (well, by vehicle type) then under each type you can make vehicle-specific alterations.

This is how I have it as well...

As for using right-alt some foreign keyboards dont have it, instead adding a Alt Gr key in its place.

You can do that now per class. Individuals override the class global setting.

Ahh yeah the right alt issue has hit us on something else too. Don't remember what.

Hate to change tab to something else because the whole problem is that our input method doesn't really know the difference with modifier keys.

With alt-tab to desktop you always fire off the tab function too.

Right ctrl might work... i use it for voice though.

What about \ ?

Right near the chat key enter.

Numpad asterisk works for me.

I also use get on/off vehicle for numpad minus, less chance of accidentally hitting it.

Learned that on an Alps Expedition.

Plan B is to just hit tab before you alt-tab, so going back into the game reduces chat instead of enlarging it.

Otherwise, alt/enter is ok with me, but I was thinking that was some magic windoze thing at least in some context, but maybe I am thinking about ctrl/alt/enter.

alt-enter is the windows default shortcut for Full screen. Game is always full screen, so...

Also when using alt+tab , it means that when I open the game again I have to hit alt to stop the cursor control..Im used to it now but can be pretty annoying especialyl when playing with inf or if people use mouse for other controls.

So maybe need a different default to enable cursor control??
