1.31.0.41 Deaf on the left ear

Software sound does something strange on my system. The right channel plays sound just fine, but the left channel is barely audible. It's also extremely annoying to have no proper 3D sound. The sound is not mixed and there's a very clear "line" between sound coming from left and right when you turn around.

Since sound can no longer be set to "Hardware" this makes for a truly awful game experience... :(

(It's the same thing in 1.30. Software sound makes the left channel barely audible etc).

Windows XP

Audigy 2

I updated my sound drivers to the latest version and it's the same thing.

I noticed the same thing during the stress test and it was pretty damn annoying. I thought maybe it was just me since nobody reported the same problem when I asked on .all They were probably having too much loading up trucks with infantry to even notice it.

From the 1.31.0.40 readme:

Preferences:

- Software sounds are now the default for all (don't worry about the fubar naming, software sounds better)

- Some default changes will cause some preferences to be reset

Why is software the new default and why can't we chose hardware anymore?

Just throwing this out there, but considering that your keymapper isnt automatically imported over to new clients, maybe you have to reselect how your speakers are set up too? I wouldnt know because i just have 2 speakers and never fiddled with it.

I only run two speakers and it's the same problem with software sound in 1.30. I've checked all the settings and I can't find anything else amiss.

I think it is because the bionic ears bug in aircraft is intimite with hardware sound.

I run 1.30 with 4 speakers and all sounds are 3D to me, I ear rear and front etc...

In 1.31 so far all sounds seem to be coming from 360 degrees around me, I can't tell front from rear, or right from left for that matter...

Am waiting for release candidate to see if this is still the case...

same here..1.30 works great . but in beta there is a very clear line at 6 and 12 clock where it changes from left to right side..

can barely hear anything on the ear "further" away from the engine.

Very nice illustration there, Hin. I really don't understand the comment "don't worry about the fubar naming, software sounds better". How exactly is the crap sound in Hinfoos video "better"?

When I had issues it was the speqakers settings

Check the WINDOWS-setting and check the "your-soundcard-here"-settings

If your sound sucks, switch from hardware to software or reverse.

Fixing the bug where it won;t let you save hardware after logging.

Please report if this does not fix your issue.

Tested in .45. Same problem, since the setting doesn't "stick". Sure, I can fix it by editing the settings file, but...

Setting is working for me .45.

I deleted the wwiiol.xml, ran the presettings app (start/programs/crs/battleground europe test).

Started the game and set for hardware, reloaded the game and setting held for 3d hardware sound.

(and the recreated xml in .45 now has the proper wording in the 3dsound entry)
