Feedback - Screen flashes black #4153

Nvida GTX 260

Vista 32

I would occasionally see the terrain flash black in beta.

I did not notice the problem when I had shadows on low.

Then I turn shadows to high and run around placing infantry with spacebar offline.

Everytime I place them I get flashes of black streak along the screen, almost as though the shadows are freaking out and casting black everywhere for a split second.

I often get the same thing when I kill the infantry dummies. Suggesting some kind of movement of the shadows and ragdoll is doing this.

Only very rarely it would flash back when I was just running around near the infantry dummies.

I had the same thing. A black flash in the fps or like a black tare. I turned off post render filter and it went away.

Looks on my client like just walking through the trooper as I lay them down. Black flash isn't full screen, just where trooper head and shoulders would be.

Those black flashes definitely look like what I've been seeing. I haven't determined what causes them. But it's quite annoying, so I'd probably play with shadows turned down to prevent it.

Some of the textures on the ground or buildings flash black.

Nvidia GTX 260.

Vista 32.

Turning it down to medium seems to fix it.

I see this on the terrain even with no inf nearby. Just one frames worth of black.

I think I am still noticing it on medium shadows, just less common.

I also get these, I thought the buildings caused them because I've only had it happen in towns.

Reported fixed 1.31.2.3.

Is there a way to replicate this in a trustworthy way?

Not really. I've used the corpses offline to test and found that if you walk over them you can replicate this but I would not deem that scientifioc.

We think this was related to corpses (or most of it was). Fixed some stuff there. Should be ready for retest 1.31.4.255.
