PC Patch 1.31.0.43 to 1.31.0.44

Mac Full Installer 1.31.0.43

Feedback:

Please use this thread for commenting on tonight's test. If you encounter any bugs you can create a new thread or include them here. There are a couple questions specifically we'd like feedback on:

1) How was your performance? Tonight's test is designed to stress both the client and host. How was the performance for you? We're not really looking for FPS numbers but more of a feel. We're you able to play?

2) Did you have any crashes or connection issues? Not the general everyone crashed because we brought the host down but any other issues. Please also tell us what you were doing and any messages you got. (Note: We collect crash data automagically but your input here can help!)

3) Give us your general impressions. Is the game ready for live? Is there anything you would want to change before we ship? What do you like and dislike?

4) What was the fight like? How was capture?

Again our thanks. Your participation is vital for us to find any remaining bugs and prepare to take this version live. We may have more tests coming in the future and appreciate your help in testing. Thank you.

If you're downloading with bit torrent, that depends on which BitTorrent client you use.

it was then, and it is now

something with the host cells...my understanding is that they is running it on a beat up old machine to help simulate worst case conditions

It seems I can move okay, but alot lot of players are running in place. Also am losing the server connection alot. Is it normal for me to change direction slowly when sprinting? I try to go left or right and it seems very sluggish, it's only when sprinting.

My impressions so far (stress test still running):

-grenade explosions desperately need work

-there are some remaining ragdoll bugs but I am not sure if they can be fixed?

-there is a lightning bug with one building type

-bomb explosion need an adjustment

-ground flickering black not fixed for me in .43

-you really need to fix that radial clutter popping in all at once from time to time to gradually adding to the edge of your field....yes really...

-hmm...for about 30 seconds, all the trees and bushes (nothing else) was flashing very bright as far as I could see, just like an enourmous light source lit them up. No way to replicated so far sorry. Yes I know this might not be anything important, just thought I would add it to the list.

-some people see rain, others don't...

+LOVE the smoke from destroyed buildings, please more more more...

+the smoke grenades feel and work excellent, fantastic!

Other comments:

Never fell through the ground as many others reported. I wonder why only some people are affected by this?

I won't list the CTHL problems because you guys are aware of them I guess and some of them were part of the testing sequences as I understood.

Overall it feels pretty good. I have more or less stable frame rates, but in big towns with heavy fighting my FPS drops quite a bit (into the range of unplayable when all settings to MAX QUALITY). If I reduce my settings, the game can be played with no problems. A few optimisations if possible here or there would be cool still. But in summary I am fascinated that this game runs so well with so much exe candy packed into it. I would say great job.

You know it is really hard to give a judgement from my point of view if it is ready to release or not. I personally would still finish up and polish the game just a little bit more, get it even more stable, maybe squash the last remaining bugs.

What I would like to get changed are the radial clutter suddenly popping in and the grenade explosion effects. For me those are the biggest factors that could create a bad impression of the otherwise so great improvements of the game.

Ran good at 70-95+ fps with my AMD 6000+ and two 8800 SLI cards. No shudders. Only one CTHL and that was near the end of the night. I did notice that when you ride in a truck you're staring at other players chest again, like your field of vision emanates in your chest.

Really enjoyed it, CRS has done a great job!

Had one freeze firing mortar while it was raining..coulda been my machine.

experienced beddy black out in 3rd gear over rough terrain.

and died once on spawn at msp glitch.

Ran around 30 fps on the ground with medium settings ..very playable..and that was sticking my face in smoke and anything else I could do to load card up. Got 60 in the air. With AMD ath 4600 touched to 2.5 ghz, and a 9800 GT OC. Currently running 4gig of ram in a vista 32 bit machine (so its only seeing 3gig if its even reading that right)..hope to have win 7 64 bit by end of summer to free up the last gig, and push the ath dual core to its full potiential.

Great stuff Rats.

1) no connection issues...connected each andevery time

2) Thought there was some lagg time between when I shot somone and when they went down...actually it did took a few secs for the dead to finally fall

3) I may be having a geritol moment, but I experienced aan opel Blackout....resolved it in the same ole way by slowing up and it didn;t come back

Performance for me was good even over Brugge. A few things I noticed:

1) Some minor graphical glitches and oddities here and there. Every now and then the world seemed to "flash" as though lit up by lightning. Some other players reported this as well but I didn't get a pic/video. Going to post on another minor bug here in a second...

2) The low dark (new) cloud layer is awfully thin. IMO it needs to have some height - maybe 500ft - to give the layer some volume, so it's more like a real cloud and less like a piece of cardboard.

3) I still think the muzzle flashes need to be adjusted (posted my impressions from 0.38 here: http://forums.battlegroundeurope.com/showthread.php?t=322634). The continuous-fireball effect really looks odd, especially when seen on other vehicles/guns.

Lot of CTHL during the first hour and I couldn't test more after this 1st hour.

Anyway all be right during my play time, good FPS and no bug

-I think the the debris from the bombs needs to fall a bit slower, looks a bit cartoonish

-agree with hchris on clutter

-fps around 18 most of the time but game runs quite well, very little lag.

-Spawn bug that we all know of

-AI accuracy increased?

No other complaints

Really like the new terrain but I get some fps drop while being near the new trees and running threw bushes, also get about half my fps when looking at trees in binos.

Other than the obvious things last night (dying on spawn, the CTHLs) it seemed to run pretty smoothly.

Um, it ran pretty flawless for me. Of course the server stuff and I got hung on the msp a couple of times. Please tone down the ai "a little". An mg nest should not kill me at 300 yds. consistently. Couple of sound bugs - the ufo and the laser bolt sound. Im ready for 131. It looks so xxxxxxx awesome I dont know if I can log into 130 anymore. If you were going for the cinematic experience "YOU NAILED IT!" :D

*edit - People will have to learn to use "Real" military strategy and tactics with the new terrain and capture mechanics.

Performance was good for me, fps-wise, and smoothness-wise and general feel-wise.

Except I had probably 3 CTD in a couple hours. Sometimes in 1.30 I'll have several, and sometimes I'll go days without one, so I can't say 1.31 has any worse or better CTD proclivity.

One very big issue was at the end of the evening in the Roer-Roer West Depot I spawned and died about 10 times. Sometimes immediate, sometimes after I moved a little, sometimes after I ran down to 2nd floor and around corner to garage. I finally escaped the building by running down to the little stairway in the front corner of the building.

Another, in my opinion, very big issue is the height of the clutter. It is too high. It blocks vision.

I was on the ridge, trying to peek over and look down on my targets. The clutter was so obstructive I could *not* stay back and just peek over. I had to crawl all the way to the top edge of the ridge. So enemy had a clear, unobstructed view of me, a sniper, skylined beautifully.

That is very, very bad.

Clutter needs to be smaller and shorter.

Clutter should be eye candy *only*, making the game look better by making the ground look less "pool-table-like".

Clutter should NOT interfere with the gameplay, clutter should NOT cause behavior to change in ANY WAY WHATSOEVER. Clutter should not obstruct view at all, ever. This obstruction causes players to have to expose their positions.

I posted about this exact problem waaaaaay back when we were first given glimpses of 1.31 and there was talk of the new clutter.

I was rather snarkily told by one Rat that I should wait till I had played with it and knew what I was talking about before saying anything. He even said that the new system did NOT affect your view. That was obviously not true. I have been making the same observations about the clutter problems since then, and every player who plays mostly infantry says the same thing.

Infantry players know what they are taking about.

The clutter system is bad for gameplay. It needs to be shorter, so that it it NEVER has ANY effect other than to look pretty.
