Water shaders cost me 20fps on remagen benchmark

Enabling water shaders is the single biggest fps killer for me on the remagen benchmark. I drop from 75fps to 55fps. THERE ISNT EVEN WATER ANYWHERE IN THE PICTURE!!! There is obviously the river between remagen and unkel but thats completely obscured by buildings.

W7, i7 920@stock, 6Gb, Radeon 4830, Catalyst 10.5a, 1280x1024

Water shaders cost me 20fps in Heinsberg where there isn't any bloody water anywhere in sight!

This surprises you? Huh.

Yes it does. What water is the engine shading in Heinsberg??? Its the single biggest fps killer from all the graphic settings.

Gophur, why would having water shaders enabled cause a performance drop in an area where there's absolutely no water around?

You haven't realised how this game works. Just because it's not visible doesn't mean it's not rendered...

Yeah. Dont forget about the gutation from the leaves! Guess thats what kills the performance when looking at trees. Shading a drop of water on every leaf!

And for munchkin: In Heinsberg??? Is it rendering the river flowing through roermond (30k distance) or what?

But I know what you mean. Big cities, and I think also the fps drop when zooming on trees.

At what range are buildings and terrain objects rendered by the client regardless if the player can see them or not? 6 kilometers?

It's "only" 10km away...

But I don't remember how far away things are rendered.

HOLD ON!

Is that urine gonna have shaders?

I don't want to lose any more frames.

Can somebody please test this as well? Just do the remagen benchmark with water shader checked in settings and then unchecked and post the results here. Best quality settings otherwise.
