7.1 or 5.1 Surround Sound or Stereo sound for the new patch

What does the new patch support and what it the best head set CRS. Would get the 7.1 if it is supported

looking at the:

The Razer Megalodon is a 7.1 Surround Sound Gaming Headset designed specifically to incorporate the Razer Maelstrom Audio Engine, making it the definitive headset for gamers today. Utilizing next generation HRTF technologies and a superb DSP with unheard of processing power, the Razer Megalodon is the most advanced audio headset of its kind.

Ups I forgot in regards to comparbility its hard to say in 1.30 7.1 works okay in 1.31 you hvae the problem that the rear channel some times jumps into your front channel. Bit annoying you lower your rear to not have so high engine sound and then the engine sound jumps into your forward center speaker when driving

Thanks,

Hi Drill

Have had Razer Megalodon 7.1 for 1 year and yes it works with the game but my advise

DO NOT BUY THE SHEITE. ITS FACAL MATTER OF THE WORST KIND

Reasons:

1. Microphone is hardwired to to high snesitivity you can not correct that satisfactory. yes I know there is firmware updates but that does not solve my problem

2. On windows 7 64 bit the headset stops working after 30 minutes to 1 hour except if you power it form an external USB hub with own power supply

3. The audio fell is less crisp and not so clear cut in channels as an analog headset like the medusa 5.1

So yes I got burned paying about 200 $ for mine so I use an extenal mike because the one in the Razer is unusable

Also I only use the center speaker of them anyways

Advantege with 7.1 you can have teamspeak on center channel only.

SO basically if you want some comfy earmuffs they are nice but if you want to use them with teamspeak forget it or yeah and want to play for longer thatn 30 minutes

But then again dont take my word for it just serach on the net and You will seee other ppl that have been burned with the Razer Megalodon

Cheers

BE uses OpenAL. If there are OpenAL drivers for your sound card, it should work and you should get whatever settings the manufacturer programmed into them. It's not something CRS can control directly.

I've never tried a megalomaniac razor or whatever, but i'm very happy with the 3d mapping in headphones on my x-fi using cmss 3d. The 3d localization is really good, esp. in combination with good in-ear headphones (I use a pair of Shure se-420) and a TrackIR so you can turn your head freely and home in on the sound.

I've never figured out what the point of 7.1 in headphones is. you only have 2 ears, the 3d mapping is done using the hrtf anyway. I suspect you'll get better mapping on a dedicated headphone driver (like the x-fi in headphone game mode) than on anything that tries to take a 7.1 signal and then squeeze it back into headphones. The whole "7.1 headphone" stinks marketing BS to me.

I reccomend the Turtle Beach HPX - the successor of the X-52.

I have the Turtle Beach X-52 - has been working great for the last 4 years. It's extremely comfortable, can wear it for hours without any discomfort.

The sound quality is excellent, and it has nice bass capability, unlike a lot of gaming headsets that sound very "tinny" with too much treble. It also has true 5.1 surround sound with 4 speakers in each ear.

Oh 7.1 comparred to 5.1 just gives the advantage of teamspeak being on the center speaker.

For 5.1 and 7.1 I can tone down some channels which is very hand y for filtering out annoying noises a bit like having you hands curbed behind your ears as you learn in the army.

In practise it means you can hear a pan sneaking in at the FB even though you got zillions of tigers spawning in behind you.

Most important aspect of a headset is that you have inline controls for each channel so you can up and lower the different speakers on the fly.

If headset doesnt have inline controls that being 5.1 or 7.1 ditch it thats like having a monitor without gamma control.

Thats why the Razor qulified as the only 7.1 i would buy to bad the mike and power supply are a tyrd
