Tested .46 for a while today and it worked very well. In some cases it seemed to me as if I was shot by invisible ei, but that may just be a side-effect of the lighting (which looks nice for screenshots but is not really an improvement in terms of gameplay, in my opinion).

I'm not sure whether the good performance today was a result of lower player number compared to the weekend or of bug-fixes, but my FPS were much better and I got far less lag.

I think the new capture system makes it far more important that everyone focuses on just capping one CP at a time. For this reason I think you need to provide better feedback to the players about what CP everyone is attacking or defending.

I realize there already are markers, specifically for what the target is, but they aren't really used as intended. A mission may be an hour old, and the focus is no longer the first CP, but the target marker would be there.

Here's what I propose:

A new marker, something a bit more eye-catching than a colored triangle, that can be placed by the OIC, or any ML can create one that the OIC must approve, and if there's no OIC then any other ML can veto. This marker shows up on the minimap and has the compass pointer pointing to it. This marker can be seen by any friendly.

I don't know what to call it, but the message it sends is "This is what we're trying to cap".

For the capture system for the capture bar besides having it red and blue. Could they be like the sides flags? Like the German Flag > British Flag if the axis are attacking a British cp.

I cant even get Beta to download stable, worries me about the game. But I am trying to get the Mac version of the beta. It always gets so far then says "Cannot Read Source File". Anyone else have this problem? God I hate change! lol

Last night AAR: Flying was smooth. No stutters low over large town battle. Some quirks with sound but nothing major. Flight damage model seems more unforgiving now, maybe it's just me. Had a CTD which I reported in CTD thread and a Conn to Host Lost, but other than that very impressive. FPS was solid through out play. Using the vert synch with trip buff.

If clutter has not been reduced in size and density between .45 and now:

1. CLUTTER is TOO BIG - it obstructs infantry view.

2. CLUTTER is TOO BIG - it makes infantry expose themselves when they shouldn't have to.

3. CLUTTER is TOO BIG & DENSE - It makes people think they are in concealment when they are not. I see prone EI in empty fields all over.

SOLUTION:

Reduce those clutter objects' sizes by 50%, and reduce the clutter density by 50% to 75%.

Reducing density might mean you could extend the radius, and get rid of the annoying, distracting, immersion killing POP-UP-MAGIC-CLUTTER-PLANTS!

Thanks for all the work tweaking so many different things. 1.31 is looking very nice!

Still awesome, many of us still have beef with the reduced tree textures but that's already been covered as a performance enhancer so its an ok evil.

Ragdolls still awesome they could use some cleaning up in future patches but they are great, almost a pleasure to be mowed down whilst running to see your guy go flying.

That brings me on to my next point, deathcam i disliked the old one and i dislike this one aswell not because its bad but for a sim it doesn't feel very serious, like how the camera pops out when you die but then it should just fade to black and auto despawn as needed.

Trooper reduced turning at speed at first i thought this was a good feature to have but the approach just feels sluggish, instead i would suggest the possiblity of reduced speed when turning at speed.

Overall sweeeeet.

EDIT: oh and host work (increased network updateds) an extra game maker for alot of us with constant ping of 150+, i look forward to see what else can be done here.

Feels almost ready to release. Still way too dark though. I am running gamma 1.5 and it still feels way too dark. Makes aiming at stuff with atr hard against background of clutter or trees.

So far great experience, haven't found a single bug yet during the fight in Dinant.

What I still saw is the black flashing of some stuff from time to time in .046

Not as often as in earlier versions, but it is still there.

Nothing to report, .46 was running perfectly. Except for these two last gentlemen who ruined my day :D

Was the aim pop up completely removed? As i dont notice it all now???

YES!

Thank Gophur!

Your eyes are at the pop-up height all the time now, so you can see over stuff without having the pop-up animation occur in 1st person. This is a VERY GOOD thing!

It means you don't try to aim and suddenly lose your target to some obstruction.

I was ingame at the stress test for several hours now and didn't find anything game breaking.

No CTHLs, no CTDs, game ran pretty smooths with no new bug reports from my end.

Sure it would be nice if you could get a few more FPS improvements, but I would say it is ready for release.

(Para dying on jump is still ingame in 0.46, black flashing the screen is still ingame in 0.46 but I guess you know about them and might be able working on a fix)

If we can get the updated grenade explosions in too it would be excellent :) hehehe

Ready for prime time, as always, more than excellent job! You really fixed those bugs very very fast!

So you tweaked turning while sprinting too? Maybe a leeeetle to far, but it was okay for running, not sure about ei running while I'm shooting at them.

The light was too dark before.., but maybe now it's a bit on the bright side..slightly back toward darker???

Certainly looks and pplays great overall..

Concussion supposed to shake that way..kinda jumpy maybe..was that changed?

(watch all my comment are probably in some read-me :( )

Im worried about too few bush lines and those ones up are small. Quite impossible to hide trucks/ms

Also noted that grass gives a veeeery false sense of cover. You see grass, you feel undercover, you have to stand up a bit to see ahead... but somebody from far is seeing you completely

Not sure if it should be removed till it is implemented to fill the grass at any distance.

I have been playing also witn W7 Ultimate 64bits. My game was hanging all the time due to my Nvidia drivers (tried 4-5 different versions) but nothing. It has problems with other graphical games so I asume is Nvidia drivers problem and not the game.

Yesterday I tried on XP 32 bits and game was smooth and fine. more FPS than with WINDOWS7

I think is a great new version but overall need much more cover for inf. If we cant turn fast, and we have no cover, inf will be the less liked unit of the game... but should be the most popular. Hide inf and give thme more cover, lock big areas of terrain to tanks so only inf can play around and it will be much better for overall gameplay :-)

Good Job RATS!

I find even sunny daylight to be too dark, or is it that objects generally don't reflect enough light.

much smoother than it was a week ago but still freezes up and ctd but I can use bino's now even with low fps, use to get a shutter lag that made it impossible to move when using optics

also agree to get rid of the clutter... till you find away to see it at a much farther range so you can use it effectively as concealment, just get rid of it till then

They increased the light during daytime with the latest patch. I thought it was perfect before that, this is a bit to bright in my view.

Of course if you compare to 1.30 which is WAY WAY to bright this will look dark but 1.30 is extremely unnatural with its brightness and pale washed out colours.

Please please please don't make it any brighter than this!

Played both accounts all day yesterday.

Experienced loss of some sounds every now and then but only lasting for a few seconds.

Rainy days were comfortable on the eyes and vision was acceptable for the conditions. Sunny days on the other hand seemed a bit too bright and annoying at times.

FPS was a bit lower than 1.30 but I didn't experience any slide shows.

WinXP32 on both PCs, 4g Ram, NVIDIA 1g on one, 256m on other.

Experienced CTHL on the pc with 1g vid card but none on the 256m card. More than likely vid drivers need update.

On the positive side, the game was smooth as silk, and looked beautiful.

On the down side - I kept CTDing after each mission when I'd try to respawn.

Also, have you made some changes to the way aircraft handle sound? I notice a difference in positional audio from 1.30 to 1.31. Settings are the same for both - hardware, 128 sounds.

Edit: Ah, I see a thread regarding CTD's. I'll try to post the logs when I get home from work.

Thanks for the feedback. Romz, nothing I can do about the clutter at this time. i think the prone eye-height now makes it better than it was. I might inch that up even a bit more but then we have to start worrying about shooting in first person from cover in third.
