Sound Issue

Don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but I seem to be lacking 5.1 sound. When I select hardware in the preferences menu and save it, It just returns to software. All other settings both in live server and on the pc are the same.

Thanks

Rans

This was a known bug last build that was supposed to be fixed this build. I can confirm that it isn't fixed yet.

Same here. To get hardware sound to stick on my system I had to delete a configuration file and have the program create it anew.

I think this has been mentioned elsewhere in the forum. I'd rather let The Rats address this issue than give instructions as there may be a more elegant solution than deleting xml based configuration files and starting over.

One thing to note is that a full uninstall and reinstall of 1.31.xx will NOT remove the file and this leaves it around to continue causing troubles.

Yeah I just tested it. In Beta everytime you change to "Hardware" for your audio source the game changes it right back to software, no matter what you do or what you assign. Unlike 1.30 that keeps it hardware.

So the result is you cant tell what direction the sounds are coming from.

A major problem that has to be fixed.

Which file is that? TY.

My documents/battleground europe test/wwiiol.xml

It's in the same folder your screenshots are in for the beta, it is a xml file named wwiiol.

After deleteing it run the setting app....start/all programs/cornered rat software/battleground europe test/settings. Set your vid res and sound card and save. Then from the ingame settings your hardware sound selection should save. May require a restart of the game.

Just did and it worked great. TY.

Now if we could only drag cursor to a 2nd monitor to adjust video settings.

just curious.

whats the plan for when 1.30 gets upgraded to 1.31?

Surly players are not going to browse for the file to delete?

Dunno, if need be yes, sometimes WE don't get things to be as easy as we'd like, and yeah we're well aware you'd like them easy too. That's the main reason we do too. :D

That will work but there are changes in the ui settings between the 2 versions.

Best imo is just delete the xml and then do as described in my above post.

The out of game settings app will create a new clean xml that will then accept/write changes you make to the ingame settings.
