Sorry if this is the wrong place, but I think there should be an option to disable shadows, they make alot of lag and us who have bad computers need an option to disable it.

Though it would be nice it would affect the game in a major way.

Players can hide in the shadows and use them to their advantage, if someone were to have the shadows turned off the player will stick out rather than blending in the shadows.

Until it's possible for a high-end rig to get consistent 60+fps during heavy combat in the middle of a city, all eye candy is expendable...

And AFAIK, though I could be wrong, shadows are/were a notorious performance hog and a no-brainer to disable in 1.30, even for high end machines. 1.31 needs all the FPS it can get.

Disagree - you should be able to run shadows on low but not diable. Playing field needs to be level.

What are your system specs Jaw?

You could turn off some shadows in 1.30 but there were never shadows udner the trees like we have in 1.31

This is a major part of 1.31 imho - makes the game for more immersive being able to hide in the shadows

Forced shadows is a plus and the fps change isn't a big one to be honest, it's a mjor plus of 1.31 since i dont know of many online games that force them on.

A great stance... for clutter... perhaps not :)

Shadows haven't been a performance hog for GPUs for a long time.

Many games let you turn off shadows, but there is little performance difference between medium shadows and off.

Very high res shadows can start to bog down even high end cards however, when they start using AA on the shadow edges.

in 131release you will be able to turn off all shadows EXCEPT tree shadows which will be forced on.

Base shadows are not the bottleneck in these scenes.
