Mac - 6pdr AFV hit sprits not visible at distance

Last night was firing at a stugG from 1000m with a 6pdr ATG, could see dust sprites from misses but what looked to be hits where not registering any type of sprite - they looked as if they where passing through the AFV. I could pepper all around the stugG. He just sat there like nothing was happening to him... as if he where a ghost, he was not responding as if I was not even there. I respawned another ATG after all my AP was gone at the depot and he was a smoking hulk (about 30 seconds from my last despawn). I am not sure if he had been destroyed but the destroyed state did not update b/c I saw him shooting earlier - thats why I grabbed ATG, but no hit sprits, I know I was hitting him.

Needs dedicated testing, range established, results in incremental summary, and so on. Unlike the title of the tread, this is not going to be specific to a single gun, but will be global. As always, that means testing all of them.

What would be the best way for me to achieve the testing of this? Is there a testing ground where I can go with another player that is .46? I mean so I dont get blasted in the process. So sorry I am new to doing the beta testing. I am happy to do as you ask....

Nevermind, just tested this myself and the issue is actually:-

a) Tracer smoke makes shorter ranged shots difficult to guage impact of because the shot has struck home before the smoke clears completely

B) Hit effects have changed with graphics updates this version, and some of you are expecting the same effects as v1.30 which is not going to be the case, as the system is new this version and does not work the same

c) More work can and will almost certainly happen but on the eve of release, not right now, or release doesn't happen. Changes need at least a week for the work ... then the testing ... then the implementation to be possible, where you are actually changing things to a different style or method of rendering them

So in summary, this is NOT a case of them not rendering, ie: a bug ... it's a case of it being more difficult than it used to be to gauge consequences of hits in all situations ... shorter ranged hits are more difficult to always be sure of as a result of the new smoke effects comparedto past versions, and the actual hit effect doesn't look the same as it used to.

Listening to your testing conversation was hilarious.

DOC: Ok, now I am going to shoot 1 round at each of you, don't fire back

DOC: Sorry :)

DOC: BTW, the 6lber is rather good at 500m!
