in 1.31.46 beta server the other night.

was defending a town because beta objective was test capture system.

anyways ran into a CP to cap it back, went into the CP and seen no one, so I walked backwards into the closet to keep my back covered.

was sitting there and suddenly I die to a rifle shot.

there is only 1 way in seen NO ONE enter the doorway, but death cam showed someone standing over my body.

I had did a 360 degree check and seen no one in the closet, but strangely died to a rifle shot to no one but had a enemy standing over my body?

Not really. All it takes is a few tenths of a second for someone to enter, shoot you and you'll never know what hit you. He might even have run off before you get to death cam so you'll never find out.

Considering I often have about 200ms ping time you can imagine that someone with the same amount come rushing in, it means 4 tenths of a second before my screen gets updated of what he's doing. That's close to an eternity in that kind of situation.

To that, add the fact that the beta server HAS been lagging a lot for different reasons so it will be even a bit more than that because of this.

So, it doesn't take that much really.

Lag

Could be, but it does seem to happen a lot and to a good number of people. I'm sure some just aren't paying enough attention but some experience this problem too much and seems to happen primarily in this game.

It could also be a bug, maybe he was invisible. I know the first week I ever played this game I crawled up on top of a building and fell through the roof and inside. I could still see out but the building was sealed and no way in. No one could see me. I killed a couple and then got caught off guard by a 3rd EI who couldn't see me and he stopped right outside the wall from me. It was then I realized they couldn't see me so I had to respawn.

I've gotten a bug where I couldn't see trees, bushes, etc and could see everything for several kilometers. That happens rarely now but it used to happen all the time before I upgraded my graphics card.

I still see EI far too often that won't die. Some say it's a lag or network issue, but he manages to kill several and even cap a flag at times with no one being able to kill him. I watched five Allied soldiers chasing one Axis rifleman emptying mags in him and he didn't die...just went on to kill some. He knew he couldn't die so he exploited the bug.

My only point is while it could be a lag, there is a good chance it is also a bug. While it doesn't happen all the time considering how many players there are, it could be the case. :)

I know all this but we're talking about the beta server now. It IS laggy, more or less, due to debugging and the fact that the server have been slow on purpose to stress the system.

At time it's been so laggy that planes have been flying backwards, sideways and even underground from a viewers perspective. I know I emptied 3 mags in an ei from 2m once and he just crawled on, just to die 15 secons later from my shots.

At other times the lag hasn't been that visible but it's always been more of it than on the live server.

So, what I'm trying to say is that we can't really judge these things until the game is live. If things like this happens a lot after that, then we can say that something isn't right.

One of the cells farked up during beta test last night, invis ei, bad lag etc...Oli fixed it within the hour though.

I had that info thing open, said I was pulling 60-75ms with 120'ish fps
