ATI 10.5 driver issue

Okay, I've been playing the beta for weeks and I have downloaded the release and played it last night. Today I get the bright idea to update my ATI graphics drivers, and now the game crashes after I see the "login complete" message on the load bar. I'm assuming this is when the game initializes some graphics components. I completely uninstalled the game, including any leftover folders, then reinstalled. Same result. The screen goes black...then I ctrl-alt-delete to bring up task manager and kill the game instance. When I do I get a message that my video drivers have stopped (or something to that effect).

rollback the driver to 10.4 or 3. I myself was running the beta with 10.5 and had no problems. That cant be said about installation of 10.5 which was a fukin nightmare.

Okay, I'll do the rollback. Was hoping to avoid that, because ATI Crossfire is a roll of the dice every time I change drivers, and I was amazed it even worked with 10.5.

But that's cool, I'll try it, thanks.

I know one thing, my next gaming rig will have just one top of the line graphics card instead of this crossfire/SLI B.S.

Rolled back to 10.4, but couldn't get Crossfire to work. Then I went to 10.3, and I'm back in business again! :D

make sure triple buffering is OFF esp on ati 5xxx series

Are you suggesting that is the problem with the latest drivers? Do they enable triple buffering whereas the previous drivers didn't? Hmm, I might look into that.

This thread's been a life saver.

I was waiting in this morning for the delivery of my new ATI5850 card. Having a look through these forums I read this one about the 10.5 drivers.

When the card eventually arrived the driver installation disc was 10.3. Normally, I'd download the newest drivers for a new card but this time I just used the ones that came in the box.

Bots, I owe you one .
