What happened to the 109E4??

Hmmm, it sure flys differently since the new mini-patch, which in itself might just take some time getting used to.

But it seems to turns much worse than before.

Read-me didn't mention anything on flight model changes. Not flown it yet so can't comment.

I hosed an E4 down with a spit1a down pretty good because he wasn't trying to evade. He suffered no visible damage though. Something odd about it.

Spit9 feels different too, especially around the stall boundry - at the verge of stall, effects are more pronounced. I've noticed a difference across the board at all speeds too. I'd say this is good, except that I was so used to how it was. I'll have to adjust. A bit more challenge is good in the end though, I think. That is the only plane I've flown so far, but I will make a shot-in-the-dark guess that there might have been a change to the virtual air in the game.

I wonder if it could just be some change to how controllers work? There is definately a difference now though.

Someone mentioned their controller numbers changed, maybe if u have more than 1 controller set-up it's using a different profile than you're used to?

On the plus side, I didnt flop as often as before ;)

But it felt like she wouldn't swing around nearly as quickly in stall fights as before.

Didnt get much time to practice before it was taken out of the spawnlist just now, but rote7 thought that the 109E1 was just as sluggish now (since the most recent patch)

Stick numbers haven't changed for me. The E4 felt like it bleeds way more energy and turns worse than in beta. Could be me, I won't deny that possibility. Maybe my hamfist from year 1 suddenly came back.

Took me a full day to get that worked out. Saitek X52 used to be and CH Pro Pedals were , now those IDs are reversed. I had to manually go through my CFML files and swap the numbers (the "replace" function in WordPad didn't catch everything, for some reason). Profiles unchanged though.

Good guess though. I'll be keeping alert for more impressions of change when flying other planes, soon as I fly some more of them. I hope some 109 jockeys will share their impressions - I have this sneaking suspicion that damping from "viscosity of the virtual air" might show some difference. The Spit9 was definately different across the entire speed range not only with respect to incipient stall behavior, but also bucking effects from use of partial flaps, open canopy, and extended gear.

I've got to say I didn't like it, but that is because I was so comfortable with the plane that I resent change. In the end though, I am sure I'll get used to it and appreciate it, even if the effects are detrimental.

Did you try to define your joystick as primary stick in windows? This helps with the reversed stick ids.

Thanks for the suggestion, but no, I didn't. Wouldn't know how to go about it anyway.

I am all set now, but maybe you could explain it so that others might benefit.

In XP you go to the control panel -> game controllers -> advanced. Select your stick as preferred stick for older games.

How about for Windows7? Anyone?

They turned up the deflector shields too high.

They are acting like they are powered by three lithium fusion reactors instead of the historical one slightly overcharged.

Strange thing that this doesn't influence the spits and hawks at all. Out of curiosity I hopped into a spit yesterday.

No matter how crazy I yanked the stick around - no flop, no loss of energy and 2 kills in one mission (without a cannon!!!!).

Do we have to blame Microsoft, do they also hate the axis?

heh I think the deflector shield was blocking the spit bullets from leaving the shield also.

Simply put the 109E4 has been nerfed out of all recognition.

Looks and feels like e1 only slower, with less turn ability. Flopping is back in a big way, as well overall G effects being more "extreme". Black and Redout being experienced at 2-4G turns.

E4 speed seriously in question.

Agree there was no announcement on flight model changes, but sorry to say something has been changed for the worse.

CRS - Please put the e4 flight model right.

From Doc's reply to a thread in bug forums

PS: no flight models were touched and they have not been changed. Your CONTROLLERS may well be behaving differently as a result of mostly MICROSOFT sourced changes to OS based parameters not CRS changes to aircraft.

Yeah well, remember when the stuka lost 1/3 of it's speed and they never touched the flight models with that patch.

Nobody noticed either, except the dedicated stuka pilots who knew it shouldn't be performing like a dog.

I'm not saying Doc isn't right in this case, but it's not unprecedented for the models to change without them intending it.

the 109 series has been change in the update except the 109e1 but the 109f1 and e4 definitely feels different not in a good way...
