Hmm.

Anyone else getting these?

Yep saw this once last week with a plane exactly as pictured, fireball was a good 10m behind the aircraft and followed the exact path in which the plane was flying.

Haven't got a picture to add since just switched to a new OS.

Yes, have seen this as well but don't have any screen caps. (When/if seen again will attempt to get some).

I've to date seen this with tanks and, in one case, a flaming EI running across a field. In almost all cases other player(s) with the same view area were reporting seeing the same.

Yup, I've seen this multiple times. Sometimes you'll just see tanks spawn in and they'll have a fireball attached somewhere random to the tank, like near a road wheel or somewhere that it makes no sense for a flame to be. I've even seen ATGs pushing around, perfectly healthy, but on fire.

I've seen fireballs just hanging in the air where planes have blown or been hit, and they've been hanging there for a long time after the planes disappeared/despawned.

Have some screenies too if needed.

I see them on more or less every attack. The same tank can drive around burning for 15 minutes or more.

saw a fireball on a flying 110 that disappeared a few seconds later.

110 seemed to be OK.

Yesterday I saw a 111 that had both engines on fire, but only from my towing account. My main account saw the same plane undamaged (and judging from how he flew around, I doubt his engines were on fire.) I .reported it. It wasn't a separate fireball like in the first screenshot though, it looked just like normal engine fires.

It's clear in this case that something's wrong since the two accounts saw different things.

I've been seeing this on planes, tanks and even AA/ATGs now, was happening a lot to some Anzacs the other night, network related?

One thing I noticed on a tank it was happening to - when I just watched it normally, the fireball would lag behind the vehicle as it moved forward, as soon as I looked through binos, it 'jumped' back to the tank.

Took some shots, will post them later if I get a chance.

This is something I've seen many times in the new release. The fire and smoke will stay for a while then disappear. The person doing the smoking and fire have no idea it is happening.

I managed to get some video today of a CA MLE 38, not great quality, but shows what I'm seeing quite well.

It happens twice in this video -

Was no one on when I tried, spawned in my 2nd with lots of different kit and couldn't get it to happen, but it's really hard to tell without a lot of bodies.

How exactly does this happen?

I need some more info how to reproduce this

I could not reproduce this so far. I tried to recreate it with 2 accounts spawned in simultaneously but with no success.

Either this bug is gone or I haven't found out how to reproduce it yet.

Last night Hotrod and I were flying around and everybody was telling us we were on fire. Well, obviously from our view we were not . Nothing ever happened to the plane, it was fine.

I have been lit up in a fighter and actually been able to chace others for 3-5 minutes before the wing came off as well.

I think it really needs multiple people from different ISPs, countries etc.

I can be in the beta server around 19:30 GMT this evening if anyone is about to help test.

  • 1 month later...

Saw it happen to a perfectly OK 109 yesterday.

He was out side halo range but saw that back smoke trail. I got close, flaming 09 with long black smoke. No one else saw it.

About 1~2 min later when I turned around to look at him again, smoke stopped.

We had air supremacy, only a very few EA around.

As far as I my experience goes with this it seems to be happening when there's a lot of activity around. Never when there's just a few players nearby.

Ditto.

I was in some VERY active areas (Longwy and Flamerege recently), and I saw a LOT of vehicles with flame bugs, and more then one at a time! (just 2, one on ground and 1 in air at same time).

Yes, this only happens when activity is high.

UPdate:

A friendly fire hit on damaged friendly unit *may* start fireball.

Shot at friendly 110 that was damaged, and he instantly burst into flames, but went out 30 seconds later.

Did again, and again burst into flames.

However when shot at undamaged fresh friendly, nothing happened.

ALSO related to black sky streaks, the ones caused by aircraft hitting the ground, with the streak going to infinity. The more action, the more likely both are visible.
