+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Windows Primary Sound Device is always used by wwiol.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

* Setting.exe and game correctly modify the wwiiol.xml file and update the sound GUID.

Tests I use to replicate:

-----------------------

AIM: get sound out of non windows primary device.

a) usb Logitech G35 headphones (Primary) , wwiiol set to use on board realtek speakers

Result: Game sound comes out G35 headset.

B) onboard realtek + speakers (Primary), wwiiol set to use the Logitech G35 headset

Result: Game sound comes out of the realtek + speakers

Conclusion (on my system) wiiol always uses the primary device.

My System:

+++++++++

Windows 7 64bit

on board sound realtek chipset

logitech G35 headset.

Updated Drivers

Tested other games and apps work as expected (including team-speak)

I posted this on another thread before i really tested it, please let me know if this is a problem with my system or if its a known issue.

Is anyone else able to test this so I can confirm if its just me or my devices/drivesrs.

That would be apreciated.

Thanks

Replicated on a laptop.

Installed 1.31.1 255 on a laptop

win 7 64 bit

installed latest sound drivers.

Plugged in G35 usb headset (let it use generic drivers)

Toggled Primary device in windows and tested ok.

Testing:

Set game to run on headset

set windows primay drive onboard laptop speakers

Loaded up game and checked settings in game were correct (i.e for headset)

But the game sound came out the primary device (laptop speakers)

Not the headset.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am having the same problem.

I have Realtek Audio Driver

I use G35 Logitech Headet

The odd thing is that sound was working fine (except for good directional audio - I could tell a little, but not good as with pre-1.31) with current configuration until I updated my Realtek Audio Driver.

Once I updated my Sound Driver - NO AUDIO AT ALL FOR ME.

I see 3 Settings for Sound Card in my WWIIONLINE Settings

1. Logitech G35 Headset

2. Realtek HD Audio Output

3. Primary Sound Driver

I have tried all three settings, rebooted each time.

Still no sound.

I would imagine it may be one of several combinations in my Windows Audio settings, e.g., Stereo Headphones, Desktop Speakers, 5.1 Sound, etc etc, but the potential combination are factorially large.

Any ideas?

Ok, found answer:

WWIIONLINE Settings: Logitech G35 Headset

Control Panel / Sounds and Audio Devices (Classic Windows View) Tabs:

1. Volume Tab: Under Speaker Settings choose Stereo Headphones

2. Audio Tab:

a. Sound Playback = Logitech G35 Headset; Advanced icon pop up s.b. set to Stereo Headphones.

b. Sound Recording = Logitech G35 Headset

c. Check box "Use only default device"

3. Voice Tab:

a. Voice Playback: Logitech G35 Headset; Advanced s.b. set to Stereo Headphones.

b. Voice Recording: Logitech G35 Headset

Note1: Ignore Tabs and Items within tabs I did not reference

Note2: The driver update reset several settings within my Windows settings.

Note3: If you are hearing your own voice when you talk, there is an advanced setting in the Realtek audio manager program that allows you to Mute "Line" Volume. Mine wasn't messed up so I didn't need to reset that one.

S!

Did that fix it for you twisty?

I had a quick read through his problem was "NO AUDIO AT ALL FOR ME."

My issue is "I can't have ww2ol use non primary audio device"

--- to put it simply ----

With what I'm experiencing you don't need the option to select the audio device in ww2ol. because from my experience it always uses the "Primary Device".

Cheers

Ok roger that. That is what I ticketed.

This still seems to be a bug.

Sound playback is always through the Windows default device regardless of the selected playback settings in the BE game client.

I can set up a macro or something to change the default device when I play BE and then back again after I'm finished but it's a bit of pain.

Edit: I'm running Windows 7 Professional.

Just found out that it doesn't matter what sound device you choose ingame (or out game in settings for that matter), it always uses windows default sound card. So I already found a good work around, but it would be nice to be able to actually choose it ingame instead of just "choosing".

I has integrated sound card of some kind playing my music and then SB extreme audio for gaming. And I wear grey boxers with pink hearts.

Gophur,

Tested with latest patch and this bug seems to be squashed.

Not sure if you need to update the ticket or if its already closed.

This really does take away some pain :)

Thanks
