At 0 degrees. 4 hits on the grills, 2 on the right side of it. Less than 25m away. No effect.

Please fix or I'm gonna find a way to kill it with a rifle and keep that info for me... ;)

On the grill? As in the radiator grill on the side?

Thats nuts if it didn't kill at least the engine - did you test this in training server?

In the real game it could have been any number of things from someone else already killed it technically to network issues...this should be tested in TS tho - if this is the case then the Char has been uberized beyond its previous uberness.

It was in Marche yesterday. Near S CP that was Rochefort CP, we were down to ATR and LMG and few ets were already massing there.

Right on the grills, 4 of them and 2 on the right side of it, between -15 and 15 degrees but at least 2 shots at 0 degrees, no smokes coming out of the engine, he continued to move at first or 2nd speed like nothing else happening. I was with Mattwitt on TS and after that same char turned his turret and killed me on the move, I told to him that I would have more chance taking a rifle and try to finish his days off. ;)

My connection is faster, 700k / sec, 164k upload, my fps were at 15-20 easily, it was just dumb that I couldn't finish his life. I flamed a s76 at 300-400m north of Namur CP in Sambreville way easier than that one shot down at 0 degrees few campaign ago.. some things seems unexpected.

hmmm...i think we should test this on training server, AFAIK there is no reason why one shot shouldn't have ended his engine there.

Same happened tonight in Havelange from S cp. I spawnt a pak36, got 4 solids rounds at 0 degrees on the grills on that char which just came along road to the north and decided to turn left once I started shooting one of his track. I was at 100m distance that time.

At least I tracked him when he came back on the road, spawnt a sapper and finished his day.

Any idea rats?

Do this. Test in a controlled environment with feedback from both sides so you know exactly what problem you may or may not have. Much more useful.

It's never going to be a 100% shot. The margin is so slim that when we built it, we took 100 shots as the minimum test sample and then drew an average from that. Certainly with varitaion in all Mv for all weapons running at +/- 5% you aren't going to score what you think is success with every shot. Sometimes you might penetrate and have so littlel energy left in the shell you don't do enough damge to trip any visible indicators, or that tiny HE burster missed doing anything vital. It's all percentages on top of percentages on top of percentages. PaK.36 versus Char.B1bis (even it's weakest spot) the percentages are slim and are being divided by even slimmer percentages as you run through each subsequent consequential outcome.

So, even that percentage that do successfully penetrate, only a percentage of those will do damage, and then those that do damage only a percentage of possible damage outcomes have visible feedback consequences, like smoke/fire/steam etc..

So taking a few shots and seeing nothing isn't sufficient to draw solid conclusions regarding bugs or what not.

It's always wise to be 25m away from your target for "point blank" since without some small slice of time for the update cycle to roll through (it's only updating a few thousand things per second and some of those being passed over the network layer might be half a second behind others) so there have been instances of "wtf?" happen just based on it happening too fast, and results might not be consistant.

Pains me to say it but running a military grade simulator on PC's that are also doing so much else at the same time to make the GAME exist as well does tax things somewhat and this is one of the reasons why we are CPU bound.

Computers ain't real life no matter how much we want them to be. It's important to understand what you're working with and take it into account.

  • 2 weeks later...
  • account 1 spawn char
  • account 2 spawn 88 at fb
  • move char to fb
  • set char up ~25m from 88
  • 88 fire 1 AP round into side grill
  • fuel leak, oil fire, no flames all crew ok
  • 88 fire second round into side grill
  • fuel fire, ammo fire, all crew dead

Seems to work fine for me.

Pak36, not Flak36 Gophur.

PaK.36 is supposed to be a real stretch, with a very small percentage chance for penetration of the side grille resulting in any real damage. As in possible, maybe, but very small chance.

I tested this a few days back. I could get consistant engine kills but only setup dead close and only at sharp angle. Moveing back farther than the pic I could not kill the engine.
