Aircraft exploding - no kill credits awarded #4379

Numerous times I have been exploded only to despawn and see that no one was given a kill credit. This has also happened when I have killed someone.

This is particularly an issue because the H87 likes to explode with all that ammo.

Anyone getting this? I have heard folks saying so.

Lastly I assure you no one else hit them - because why would it not give someone a kill credit on me?

2 nights ago, solution exploded one of my wingman whom was in an 09F4. I got a pm in the forums asking who my wingman was... I asked that person and they said no one got a kill credit on them... so solution was robbed via this bug if you will.

Maybe the same thing I've been experiencing, from the other end:

http://forums.battlegroundeurope.com/showthread.php?t=329839

Could just be that there's some critical component in the H87 (ammo boxes, fuel?) that isn't listed as such but causes the whole plane to blow up when damaged. So the plane explodes, but with no crits nobody gets the kill and the game doesn't even consider it a KIA.

The odd thing is that it's happened to me three times in two days, after going nine years without any problem that I can recall.

This happens to me when i am flying 09s as well, so not just limited to H87s.

before 1.30, I remember someone told me either explose or fire from tanks doesn't register as kills

not sure that's the case for planes as well, and I am not sure if the RAT changed that

On Wednesday I went h2h with a 09 in a h87, scored hits, 09 probably rammed me or just blew up passing me due to sudden spike in the awesomness field but I got no kills. I'm pretty sure he had a fresh kite cause he came straight from Verviers.

I also heard numerous reports about the same issue. On the other hand I blew myself up with my bomb yesterday some time after thief plinked me and he got the kill, so it is not always bugged.

Thats a negative. I was getting credits before.

update:Was beating up an H87, then after a few rounds into him he exploded - got credit. So perhaps its when the first rounds detonate them?

Just saw berzerkr report on ch 20 he exploded a hawk "again" ... with no kill credit. See a couple of threads on the front page of this as well concerning this. .. not only happening with hawks though --- just they just tend to explode more often so its more obvious.

early today I was flying around Spa for defense, and that wasn't many allied planes but lots of 09

my H81 got hit really bad with 4x09 on my @$$, then suddenly I exploded, and it shall be 1 of the 09 hit me really good

I didn't play attention to what came up when I click OK to despawn

but when I got back to mission screen, I was RES and no killer (killer list was - )

it doesn't seem only H87 has problem, and I think it's definitely something going on, so CRS shall pay attention to this kind of issue now

There was an issue a while back that was that sometimes the kills system registers the kill to the fire or the explosion instead of the person.

It happens a lot with ATG's vs tanks - pop them in one shot and you often dont get a kill.

like I said before, I think something like this is still happening here

DOC, don't know if this is of any use - on the receiving end, occasionally when this occurs, the despawn timer comes up automatically at the time of the explosion. Of course I can't say it happens all the time, so not sure what that'll buy you but maybe it'll lead you to a path closer to the source of the problem.

Summary:

Plane explodes and despawn screen comes up automatically without having to hit escape. Upon OK'ing the despawn, no killer is listed in the AAR screen.

investigation has to go deeper now

tested this for 2 hours yesterday, online in beta

no kill ever awarded to "-" in the UI AAR, have not investigated CS&R and don't really want to go there, it scares me

The killer is indeed "-" when this happens.

Had this happen on another account today. I took note of more details this time

Though plane exploded, it didn't seem like my pilot died. I lost sound but the screen didn't go black, just popped from cockpit view to hulk view. Didn't have time to look at health but I had a fully unobstructed view of my first person view, no cockpit, just hulk.

Despawn timer popped up automatically, Showed a Rescue until I hit the ground, it then showed a KIA, still no killer in CSR or in game.

I'm kind of ticked I hit the wrong button, went to hit F9 missed.

Forgive me for some wild theorizing, but plink kills still register. Logic would point me to there be something explicitly in act of hulking interfering with this? An error roughly equivalent to...

...

AwardKill(...)

if (n00b = hulked)

return

else

Crit(n00b by 1337Ace)

if (FuelTank = Esplode)

HulklNoob(n00b)

AwardKill(1337Ace on n00b in Sopwith Camel)

...

It's obviously a gross oversimplification, but with the auto-hulking on critical damage I could see an error like this being introduced. That is, that the revised hulking assumes that the crit has already been awarded.

It has happened this map. The Insta Explosions are not near as common (I would say rare) for myself, but when it has occured there has been no credit awarded.

Sorry for a bump, but this bug either reappeared or there is a very similar one introduced.

A bit hard to collect data on this, but some claim that the target has a "RTB" in stats.

If your target gets an RTB, then your side learns that the pilot made it home and the commission does not approve your kill claim.

No paint on the door for you.

Which seems to be the problem then. Airplanes that blow up dozens of kms from an airfield get an RTB.

I have not seen that reported before. Is that the case? When you are instant destructed you get an RTB?
