ATG's , AAG Towing

I believe this NEEDS attention. Towing an atg/aag for several hundred or thousands of meters and over a slight bump, or marsh or a bad turn they often will flip topside and fall below the map!

  • 2 weeks later...

This continues to be an issue... I hauled my bofors and even a few others 2 or 3, driving in a straight line... regardless if it's paved or grass and the atg/aag flip on their sides or fall below the world.

This is totally unacceptable. Fix this or give us the option to manually reset the equipment or winches, which in reality (CRS claims this to be close to realism as possible, yet fail in many aspects) is possible to overturn vehicles even during this particular war.

I spawned an Opel at Zundert and towed a Pak38 around. Started down the road then off across the farms and onto the dunes. The dunes get really bouncy but no blackouts for either but it was definitely faster than I'd ever want to drive on that kinda ground.

I managed about 50koh on the farms and only about 40kph when I went into the small forest. Even when I started jumping berms and driving through the ditch at full speed I did not flip my tow until I purposefully rolled the truck.

What are you doing specifically to see this? I'm guessing that it might be you are towing more than one gun.

try with a heavy atg gophur, i lost several 88 to this bug, seems when u go after a certain speed the 88 have tendency to flop, even on road.

Well I'd like to see a more detailed analysis but in my experience if you tow at absolute top speed everywhere and over through everything, you'll have an issue for sure. If you slow down and excercise some caution it isn't a huge issue at all. Towing over berms and really rough ground you should be reduced to a crawl really, and if the articulation is severe flipping would be expected. I mean in real life. :D

Maybe we should just halve your speed when towing several tons of artillery piece ?

the worst case is that it not only flip, but fall below the ground

i tried to tow up hill, and the laffy for sure can only run on gear 1, went through a small bump, the 57mm flipped, and got below the ground

he tried to despawn, then I heard explosion sound, and the gun or gunner are all dead

under no circumstance, any equipment shall fall below the ground

this not only happen to equipment, and I can tell you even some inf falls below ground right after spawn in

the map is still bugged somehow

equipment that is wrong side up will only not fall through the ground if we cover all "non normal ground contact sides" with ground colliders, thus reducing available FPS performance even further

the reason they don't have ground colliders on the sides pointing up is that these colliders are expensive performance theives, so we never added them there because we never really figured an upside down ATG was going anywhere but despawn

we could consider more but we'll probably not do that until we redo them to save doing the work twice

PS: we know they don't handle well under difficult circumstances and we are looking at them

I dunno guys. I just used a half-track and an 88 and I couldn't get it to flip, let alone sink no matter what I did. Are you guys having bad ping times? Are you trying to run 2 accounts on one machine/

This seems to be working flawlessly for me.

How far are you traveling even? I usually travel between a FB to the AO or a couple thousand (tens) km to my point of destination. Traveling long distances you have no choice but to travel through the rough... but it's not enough to cause a tip or the aag's/atg's to either flip on their side, upside down or below the ground as they do.

The Morris also needs to be fixed, concussion bug or blackouts... you have plenty of head clearance. If you're suffering blackouts driving on rough surfaces, you obviously have HEALTH issues.

Just today I traveled over 35km to my point of destination... the aag (bofors) flipped, 3k from the objective, for absolutely no reason on a straight road even. If lucky we're able to get them to turn over running over hills a few times before this new patch was introduced, but now it's just impossible... they end up turning over topside under the ground or move through small hills as if they were not there. The only option is to RTB, MIA and begin the trip again. That's 40minutes down the drain.... I'm becoming fed up with this nonsense.

Regardless, we should have the ability to turn over aag's/atg's... in reality we've been able to do it, if not by hand, with winches or jacks (yes they carried jacks/winches with them in transport vehicles, even improvised) and at 50kph (30mph)... is not enough speed to tip these beasts over as you imply they do in reality and in game.

Also, with the aag's (bofors) boom up by default towing adds to tipping.

Yes, I use two accounts to tow my vehicles, this pc can handle it with high settings but I've set everything to low as I don't care for the new details. I care about the mechanics/realism (lacking today) of the game.

As a side note.. if you're worried about a performance drop when adding code to fix(resolve) an issue(bugs). Why not rewrite the entire game engine and/or do away with the netcode, many have suggested it.

try to drive some curves... specially when you are on a hill....and you drive along the hill... not downhill or uphill or hit some berms

the main emphasis of a 88mm FLAK/PAK is quite high in that case... same like with the 232... and they tend to flip easily

That's all well and good but when an M5 flips while a Laffy IS driving slowly and is not encountering rough terrain then there surely is a problem.

Of course, having the ability to right an atg that's on it's side would cause this to be nothing more than a minor pet peeve, but alas.

GOPHUR when you towed the 88 was barrel sticking up in the air at 80 degrees when it spawned in?.. some see it some don't. seems the guy with the gun does not see it but everyone at the fb sees these guns going off down the road with a huge here I'am flag pole sticking up..
