Feedback - grenades #4302

Noticed this last night while trying to clear EI from the upstairs of a flag building; grenades embed themselves into the upstairs ceiling of flag buildings and the explosion is negated.

Confirmed through offline testing with all grenades that 'bounce': French grenadier and British, French, German hand grenades.

Procedure:

Go upstairs into flag building and throw grenade at the ceiling between the rafters.

The grenade will clip into ceiling and you can stand right next to it when it detonates and take no damage.

Tested on Beta 1.31.2.3 and grenades still stick into the ceiling.

Makes it very difficult to clear the upstairs of the depot flag buildings as you cannot bounce the grenades to any useful position. Any grenades touching the ceiling stick, clip and are rendered useless.

Good.. I thought it just happened to me. threw 3 grenades in upper floor to kill a LMG that got me..Ran up to see, he killed me again..Didn't even get a damage on him.

I've noticed the same "sticky" behavior when trying to throw nades into the bunker through the windows, if you miss they'll often stick to the frame/sandbags on the outside.

Didn't realize that they do no damage after getting stuck, though.

I've seen this many times too, I see them stick to the ceiling then go off. Course, when I run up there, I get shot and I wonder, why didn't my nade kill him? Now I know why, didn't realize the ones sticking to the roof are impotent.

Yes ..I have noticed this also, in cp's mostly but have also seen it when trying to kill AI towers in any ab. The nades will stick to the roof of either one.

Last i checked the same thing happened when one tries to through a grenade through the power lines following some RR tracks. Maybe a similar issue?

  • 2 months later...
who clears a cp with nades anyway?

Those of us who:

1.) know how to aim a grenade

2.) enjoy the challenge of actually killing something with a grenade

3.) are not lag phags

4.) refuse to play with lag phags

So I'm happy to hear the grenades won't be sticking in the ceiling and not doing anything.

1. would agreee with you but you insult the gerenal pop

2. see (1) your argumants now hold no merit even if they did.

3. those who clear cps with out grenades, or after they r out are better players because they are more versitile.( my opnion is all ;) )

.4 I like clearing with nades also, but hold no grudge agains thsoe who do not.

Grenades still sticking 1.32.07

Stand outside capture office, throw grenade through 2nd floor window and they stick to the ceiling.

I'd also like to add that Rifle grenade HE rounds when hitting the cieling or upper half of the walls also do not damage or kill EI.

Maybe in Vermont there's a different meaning for some words I used, because there's nothing in my post to disagree with.

I didn't insult the general population.

I said that because some players are lag phags, I throw grenades through the windows. This was in response to someone who asked why anyone would ever bother with grenades.

All my arguments are always valid.

I tried it during the Orval battle just now and it stuck to the ceiling although it killed me. Not sure if I was fully under the 2nd floor.

Not fixed 1.32.0.10

2nd floor of capture office, grenade thrown from 1st floor sticks to ceiling.

EDIT - I can also get them to stick to the bottom of the top floor of the fire escape when thrown from the ground. Also sticky to the church bell when thrown from the stairs. Seems to be only sticking when thrown for a distance - i.e. the less oomph (techical term) they have, the more likely they are to stick.

Nope. Still an issue.... sort of.

Couple of weird ones, not all places.

  1. capture building (office1c) - upstairs they stick to the ceiling like craze
  2. mshack - stick only if you bounce them off the ceiling and they hit a wall

Lots of others have no issues. Regardless of reports they do kill you when they are stuck.

Not calling this critical for release but will clean up in a point release.

Still happening in cp top floor and ai mg towers, version 1.32.13, although it does not alwasy happen in top cp floors, but happens enough to make the nade useless in clearing cps etc...
