yeah...

10 Million Joules is equal to about 646 .50 caliber bullets weighing 750gr fired at 798m/sec (15,482 J each)

sure there wasn't a decimal point somewhere?

Well "10 million joules" I would describe as a bug if it were actually that many, but I think you misread the actual joules in the chat buffer because that's not going to be remotely possible from a single round of 15mm in our game, it just can't happen.

BTW, the 15mm in our game (from the MG151/15) has a muzzle velocity of 905m/sec which is pretty damn fast. But it isn't doing 10,000,000 joules even at an impact directly after it leaves the muzzle, uh uh, no way. Not from a single 15mm impact.

i dont want to offend you :D... but someone should check it. not to mention the stuff about Spit I ... so it "might" be possible that there is something going wrong with it atm...

so if he got that in his chat... it got calculated

Hows about 22,534,031? Or even 44,986,837?

Reproducible. Get in a 38t and place satchel as in this shot (which btw shows another bug with odd satchel placement!) -

22million.jpg

Doesn't DO that amount of damage, as the tank is still alive after, but displays it.

What does a satchel have to do with the number of joules delivered by a 15mm cannon round??? The satchel is like several kilos worth of explosives.

I was using my MG and Cannon at the same time. I might've hit you with both.

Just pointing out that it happens elsewhere as well. It's more likely the calculation for the DISPLAY of the joules in the chat bar, not the actual damage being delivered (as DOC says).

Satchels do give up humungous amounts of joules. Compared to a 15mm AP round a satchel charge is like an atom bomb.

But 45 million? I remember reading a long while back that a APHE round produced something like 1.2 million joules .

Sorry guys but this is not a bug in ballistics. There is clearly a "display calculation" issue when you see how many joules damage you're doing because a 15mm round is not doing 10 million joules of damage, not in code although I believe you it might have said that in the chat buffer.

This is difficult because you see it and think it's broken but in terms of code functions (damage actually done to what and by what) it isn't broken. Sometimes it would be nice if everything did what we wanted it to, and everything was pefect, but we're usually to deep in stuff we need to do to worry about polish and explanations, and that sucks.
