just got killed in my 190 and exploded no killer...

If you are flamed or sometimes even just ticking (depends how serious the damage is), if you press Esc. you blow up. I don't think this holds true if you manage to land, but most of the time, if you are in the air and are damaged and press Esc. to despawn you blow up.

This is the same as in the ground as well. If a tank is significantly damaged, and they press Esc. they are probably going to blow up.

This is probably to help deter despawners who try to despawn before they are technically "KIA", and it's probably to help the killer know the person is actually dead.

You may have been severely damaged by AAA AI and when you pressed Esc. you blew up because you had a lot of damage.

no...this is a known bug even before this patch... you completely explode a plane you get no credit for the kill

I managed to saw the wing off a He111 yesterday with my DB7 - no kill. He plinked my pilot and bombardier with his tailgunner for something like 75% damage, judging by the health bar, but I still had the plane in control and was able to pickle bombs away (saving one just in case I saw a chance for a cheap-shot opportunity) - the dead and exploded He111 scored a kill on ME!

C'mon now, that just ain't right! :(

you'll need to give a much better description. Here's how I read it:

  • spawned plane x

  • shot at enemy y

  • enemy took critical damage but not from me

  • enemy despawned

  • because enemy despawned with critical damage he blows up to show that he was damaged to other players

  • I get no kill credit because I did not score the critical component damage even though he blew up on despawn when I was shooting at him.

Even if that is the case I can see how that could be confusing.

Is that what you are seeing?

I've been on the receiving end of an "exploding plane bug," previously reported in this forum. My plane will suddenly explode after a few plinks (or even just one plink), I'll get an MIA or RES mission result (not KIA) and my killer is listed as "-" in the AAR.

I believe this is what the OP is talking about though I could be wrong. Also I haven't had it happen since the patch, but it has only happened to me in H87s and I haven't flown one of those in a while.

Hey again Gophur - chiming in on this one. I got killed last night by andyg in an F2 - showed up in mission results. Checked stats today, and no killer listed. Likewise last night lifted from Koln, scored two kills in an F4 (hurri IIB and Spit IIb) shown in mission results. Checked stats my (multi crewed) F4 shows as no kills.

Since the beginning of this map something wierd has been happening. I have flamed and exploded many many ea to recieve no credit. Now once in a while? Sure - it's believable. But bouncing someone just off the af, flaming/exploding him, and getting no credit is kinda wierd. I'm not the only one seeing this stuff - lots of hangerites are noticing.

Yes, it absolutely could be just a string of error in perception on my part - but I don't think so. There appear to be several issues at work here - exploding plane bug, kills not registering and stats being all fooked up atm. The latter probably being a result of something a bit off in the recent patch - but the others appear to have been present during this entire campaign.

Just passing along some observations from the player level - right or wrong.

Cheers and thanks. :)

Negative Gophur, couple reports of the same issue in this thread here. http://discussions.playnet.com/showthread.php?t=327553

This is how it works for a player on the receiving end

I get hit by enemy fire, and plane explodes fully (think Fallout - Bloody mess perk) without previous

- fuel tank fire

- engine stoppage

- wing loss

- pilot killed

Results in no kill credit given to my killer.

Despawning doesn't even factor into the equation.

Two of my relevant sorties can be found here (I was exploded by enemy fire, no kill credit given to my killer)

http://csr.wwiionline.com/scripts/services/persona/sortie.jsp?sid=299724&pid=102457

http://csr.wwiionline.com/scripts/services/persona/sortie.jsp?sid=403967&pid=102457

I think I've also had one in a 110 but I heck if I can figure out which at this point, was a few weeks ago.

Gabriel and Binky mention similar experiences in the thread I linked.

The only time I've had the no killer bug is when the plane is WTFsploded.

Sounds like exactly the same thing I've been seeing. Basically the explosion comes out of the blue and is total, not like when you "just" get a wing blown off or whatever.

It's a normal damage state, it happened pre 1.31 as well, it's just with 1.31 it's not registering that the plane was killed by a player.

yes this was reported before the newest patch most commonly on planes that explode easy (EI h87 and 190) its like that old flame a plane and no kill bug where the game registered the fire killing the player not the guy shooting him. ive had it happen to me a few times exploded a couple 190s and a h87 or two and did not recieve kill and ive been exploded a few times w/ no killer on AAR this is not related to the current stat issue we've been having since the newest patch. there was a thread by Rebel357 in the hanger discussing this same issue.

Yeah good call DOC. Let's see if the killer issue clears up. This smells funny but not funny enough yet to have an idea where to look. Keep posting.

Roger that. I think we should keep on this. There's not enough here yet to put a finger on it, plane issue, black hole issue, or just expected functionality but bad feedback issue.

Yeah, there are about 3 different threads in this forum alone. Just waiting for the update to say when it will be fixed.

O yes, and the only info I have for you is the insta - explodes. That is the only time it is happening.

Another instance of this happening:

The other day flying along, and I get plinked by an Aircraft near verdun...As i continue on, I get exploded by a bofors. Guess who got the kill? The Aircraft. Almost like a POD, but I saw the bofors round comin, so it wasnt the POD. FUn!

The reporting on this needs lots of refinment before we can narrow down what we are looking for.

example:-

Plane "insta explodes" from light damage -we cannot replicate this in a controlled test. Perhaps you are HEARING only a plink or two, but are receiving more incoming damage than you think as a result. That would be a sound feedback issue not an exploding plane issue. Every plane tested in controlled testing is behaving according to expectations, but that testing is only when two players are logged into the host together. If there are many players where you are experiencing this, and your vizlist is fairly full (vizlist is not just who you can visibly see but anyone in your update loop) we might have something else going on.

What I am getting at here is there is no bug with planes "insta exploding" from light damage that should not be causing that consequence, that we can find. There is however, every possibility that other factors associated with feedback about what is happening to you (whether you got lightly hit or totally clobbered for example) could be to blame, or that it may be related to login loads or issues we cannot replicate in internal testing.

If you want to help (and we sure could use it because I cannot find anyway to replicate this in internal testing at all) I need you to broaden your perceptions of the cause to cover things that might be unrelated to what you think it is at first.

The "your killer shows as "-" in CS&R" is is almost certainly unrelated to the game models or those kinds of bugs, and is 99.999% going to be a database/host communication issue.

Planes instaexplode as often as they used to explode. But now ~50...70% of them get away with no killer. And I believe they even get away with it when someone else plinked them earlier.

You should really ask the guys that die alot, not the ones doing the killing :)

See that's the issue that needs clarification.

When we look for bugs in data this only works when the models or client code are wrong/bugged. If it turns out to be a scoring/database issue, that's something else entirely and not related to the game at all except that the database is excepting input from the game client, or in this case, not accepting that input. This might mean the game isn't broken at all and we would never find the bug, because it isn't in the game it's in the database or worse, the communcation process between the game and the database.

This is why we need to pinpoint the issue rather than just generlize that "it's broken". ;)

No - If a plane is plinked and flys off to only be insta exploded by another, the person plinking him gets the kill.

Has happened to me - Almost like a plink / ram death. Such as the case I described above. I took small rounds from the previous aircraft (was manuvering good still) . then the bofors exploded me to give this guy in an aircraft the kill which he didnt not deserve.
