No Fire Zone Change - question

I saw the posts a few days back about No Fire Zones only being in effect when the "spawn was open for business."

I assumed that meant that No Fire Zones would only be in effect in a depot that was an enemy spawnable - that is, a depot that is a link to an enemy town with an enemy FB in between (if there is an FB).

But now in the official "Read Me" the wording seems to imply that the only change has been a 60 second delay, and that *ALL* depots will still be No Fire Zones when captured, *regardless* of whether they are actually the "spawnable".

I know some of you think *all* depots are enemy spawnables because of the ability to RE-spawn when you are near one, but that is not what this "No Fire Zone" fix was all about.

It was supposed to protect a player spawning into the game from being killed in his own game spawn entry point by some lame-o who either PARAed in or held over. RE-spawning into a depot that has been camped is NOT spawning into the game, you are already in the game. You want to teleport into a building in an empty town that is not your spawnable, you take your chances.

It wasn't designed to make it super easy on attackers to clear buildings of enemy, or even worse, simply ignore enemy.

In fact, the *correct* design would protect the spawner while spawning only, and force the capturing team to go clear the rest of the depot.

This is a PvP game, and if you want to take a building, you should be required to TAKE THE BUILDING.

We all know the best and easiest way to do this is simply give a spawner 20 seconds of invulnerability AS LONG AS HE DOEN'T MOVE FROM HIS SPAWN POINT. (Had to put that in caps because EVERY time this is mentioned someone who won't read a full sentence will go on about 20 seconds being enough time to run and blah, blah, blah.

So you spawn, and for 20 seconds can ROTATE IN PLACE WITHOUT MOVING OFF THAT SPOT and kill enemy you see.

Spawn-camp solved, PvP game intact, no magically malfunctioned weapons, players get to play the game, enemy must clear the building, enemy can't ignore other enemy shooting from windows.

So the question is:

Did we only add a 60 second delay to the same "all depots are No Fire Zones", or is the "No Fire Zone" *only* at valid enemy spawnables?

(maybe that should have been at the top of the first post, or at least before the rant)

I don't really know TBH. Oli isn't here to ask and he wrote it.

Open could mean several things.

1) Yhr depot is open for spawning after it has been captured and the spawn timer (actually the table rebuild timer) has been crossed.

2) The depot is open when it is linked to a friendly city and there is no enemy FB on the link

3) Same as two but there must actually be a brigade that is supplying the depot

4) Same as 3 but there must actually be a mission originating in the depot.

I wanted 3 but I suspect I got two. I might have gotten one but I hope not.

I'll go test.

BRB.

  • Piennes French (occupied)
  • Fontoy German (occupied)
  • Longwy German (unoccupied)
  • Spawn German at Fontoy
  • Place AO on Piennes
  • Capture Piennes-Fontoy Depot
  • Capture Piennes - longwy Depot

Except neither one are capturable so I can't test it. Server is fubar it appears. I'll try again tomorrow.
