Every session of gameplay I loose some sounds, tends to be at least a couple hours of play. Random sounds. Generally with the random sounds I lose the button click sound as well. Only way to fix this is to restart.

I get this occasionally, and then sometimes the concussion bug kicks in not long afterwards...

I particularly notice it while driving, the engine sound dopples off, then there is silence then it comes back again, its rather weird...

I tried the 128 sounds, happen again after 2 hrs of play. Went two days with no occurrence though.

If i use software = no 5.1 surround. :(

So far the only clues that I can see are:

1. >2 hrs of play.

2. Lots of sounds in the game world, fierce battles.

3. Restart game fixes.

Sounds lost this last time:

My footsteps, could here others.

Typically button clicks at map, mission, etc screens.

Hurricane was cutting in and out low over head.

I will try to get more details.

I have same sound card (SB X-Fi Audio)

Note: The only thing I have updated recently is my gfx card drivers. I had no sound issue before this change!?

Newest sound drivers for that card are old (but not as old as the ones stang is using):

I noticed last night that the click when I display the map had disappeared - I haven't noticed other sounds going, but I will pay more attention, now. This affect kicked in straight-away, no need for me to wait for 2 hours of play.

(I have been getting a couple of random CTDs - not on spawn/despawn - I wonder whether this is related?)

stang: Do you play with SVM on?

(I do, and I am wondering if that has an effect?)

"I think" 1 common thing that happens when I have sound loss if aircraft engine flying low. This time a 110.

Lost:

footsteps

shooting

menu picks

mouse wheel clicks

I have:

Bullet ricochets

shell droppings from smg

I have initial sound when a nade goes off 1/2 sec same with smoke too.

Still some sound lost about 80% of the time.

Sound lost consistently:

footsteps

reloading

fire of weapon

clicking gui buttons

always as inf never lost sounds as an atg, aa, or tank

can hear:

my small arms shells hitting the gnd

bombs

other large caliber shooting

aircraft flying

tried software switch

cant stand it no 5.1 surround and constant popping on loud sounds.

tried various number of sounds no effect.

restarting the game brings it all back.
