http://www.onwar.com/tanks/germany/data/pz4g.htm now this 1st link is for the panzer 4g, if you look closely at armor protection you'll see as follows

Hull 50/50+30mm@78° 30mm@90° 20mm@81° 10mm@0°

Superstructure

50/50+30mm@80° 30mm@90° 20mm@78° 12mm@0-5°

now what 50/50 + 30mm means is , is that german armor plate is 30mm thickness for the 1st plate and + a second layer plate 30mm thickness hence 50/50 which equals 60mm thickness , but the 1st plate only slow down the 75mm sherman or allied round but the 2nd plate actually stops the round i'm talking about the APHE round or AP or HE allied round

http://www.onwar.com/tanks/usa/data/m4a3.htm

this 2nd link is the M4A3 sherman IT SHOWS THAT THE SHERMAN HAS ONLY 1 PLATE OF ARMOR protection it is 1 plate 51mm@ a 34to 90 degree angle the sides are only 38mm rear 38mm and the top and bottom is only 25mm at 0 degrees meaning no angle at all ! now the turret on the other hand is extremely thick 76mm and the manlet where the commander is is 89mm, but, now the side of the turret is only 51mm at a 85 degree angle on the side and 90 degree to the rear a and of course the top of the turret is only 25mm thickness easlily penatrated buy the german AP and HE rounds of german panzer with a 75mm round

in conclusion if you cannot script in the axis armor plating as double plating you should just script it as follows 60mm thickness !

now i know A LOT of CRS techs play allied AND THEY'RE NOT! going to be happy about this ! but its BALANCE you need to get the spec correct, its a little bit like rocket science but i'm sure you can figure it out . i'm posting this thread so that everybody even the allied players can see i'm a very fair person and i do know about armor

Rckgunny,

thats interesting, is there any information on how the 50/50 +30 is refered too?

Also, we hope that nothing is this game is modeled on one source of information, do you have any other DATA that confirms/validates the link you have posted

I don't really follow your logic here... "50/50+30mm" does not mean "two plates of 30mm."

What it means is that the original-design 50mm plate was upgraded in later production runs by adding a second 30mm plate, effectively giving you front-hull protection of 80mm. Not to all the vehicles, mind. Maybe an 'upgrade' to consider if Tier 4 ever gets implemented, depending on how common it was (I'd imagine pretty common after mid '44).

sorry specterx your thinking of the pzr 3's which are at the same place as where i got these specs. i looked at them too they have a single plate 50 mm . true laster on the pzr 3h another 30 mm plate was probably added.

Sorry? I'm just going by what's on the page you linked.

"50/50+30mm@78°" does not by any stretch of the imagination mean "two plates of 30mm."

what it all boils down to is that the correct balance would be that the sherman would have to get in very close in order to penetrate the armor. because we are taking about 9mm of a difference and a more hardened metal. and thats exactly what the shermans had to do to kill the pzrs 4's. now on the othe hand the british 17pdr atg could at any distance could destroy and german tank.because a 17pd round is bigger the a 88mm round of a 88. but a 17pdr gun was a very big gun and it wasn't until late in ww2 before the allies were ever able to find a way to mount the 17pd gun into a tank.the 17pdr . gun was hard to move. it was as hard to move as the german 88. it was the u.s. 105mm gun that actually turn the tide for the allies, especially when it was mounted on a sherman chassy. with the u.s. 105mm the german pzrs were at the mercy of the allied guns .now there was the u.s. 90mm anti tank gun tank killer, it was like the m10 it was named the m36 and this allied tank defeat all german pzrs.

50/50+30mm armor means 50by50of 30mm thats the way they're using the forward slash. otherwise if you were correct it would be written as follows 50mm +30mm
