Anti-Lag/Better Peformance UPDATES (CRS READ)

I'm sorry for posting this here but obviously there is no where else to post this. Anyways, one of the big things I hate about battleground europe is that it is not smooth... aka. it lags for some of us.

I think one thing you guys need to be focusing on is making the game more smooth. I think you should let us disable some of the 1.31 upgrades aswell, as to me they only make the game uglier and a bit laggier.

EVERYBODY (that didn't upgrade their PC's) took an FPS hit with this last patch (some even MORE than others), CRS even posted that if you didn't have "broadband" internet (as well as upgraded PC), you were likely to suffer LAG "issues".

Gopher even did a "minimum spec" rig build, showing WHAT you would need to keep playing, WITHOUT suffering too much lag!

WHAT, part of ^^^THAT^^^did you miss there, Romzy?!

And before you accuse me of having inferior hardware and broadband: I am running 2 accounts at 1920x1080 resolution and my fps never dips under 25 and have 8Mbit (6Mbit real speed)rock steady broadband with a stable 140ms ping. I am not saying that 140ms ping will not result in lag, I am saying that 1.31 lag is much worse sort of lag then the 1.30 lag ever was.

Sand --> there. Find yourself a nice spot and stick your head in it right next to CRS.

well the game went from supporting dial up to not supporting dial up pretty much, though I have heard some people can still play on dial up. Gotta remember this game was made when Voodoo was the graphics king...Computer technology has exploded but its not easy to take a game this massive and complex and just made it perfect by todays standards. Its still one of the best games around though.

What's your computer, what services are running on the background, what are your connection?

There are only one lag for me, sound and rain effect are stopped for while, graphics are smooth.

Core 2 Duo 2.66

4GB RAM

GTX280

W7 32bit/Win XP

my computer is 4 years old with graphic card upgrade in 01/2009

16AF, 8AA, 1920x1200

BUT I KNEW THAT WAS GONNA HAPPEN, goin into 1.31, my rig is JUST AT, the min specs to play the game and I generally get around 30 FPS avg, and it's almost TEN YEARS OLD! And YES, I run 2 accounts on the same rig, sometimes, but deffinately NOT in major battles (I'm lucky to see 5 fps if I do that)!

U nUbs kill me, when they come here to WHINE bout lag, runnin rigs that usually net 100+ fps, then come to find out they got satellite or some kind of wireless internet and it's storming at their local. And since the guy didn't bother to post his system specs (enough info, so that we could seriously help him, hence "nUbs never learn" comment) as usual with whiners, I generally go with the most common denominator of fault for lag, sucky internet!

So, while I go bury my head in the sand and have a word with MM, why don't you pull your head out of your backside AND STFU about the crap you're smellin!

Network is the issue here not some kind of lag introduced by the graphics update. Network code changed, those changes resulted in crappy cqb. That is a fact. So dont bring hardware into it.

Im talking about computer lag, not network lag. And I have the recommended rig for ww2 online and it dosent really lag... but its not smooth.

Im just saying we need more features to make the game smoother and not as buggy/laggier.

I think some of you are confused here. Lag is not FPS, at least not in my book.

My FPS is a consistent 40ish and 20 or 30 in large battles, but basically always good enough AND not much different from 1.30; however, lag is much more pronounced in 1.31 for me. (most specifically in CPs.. where most battles occur) My cpu did not change, my network did not change, my FPS did not change, but suddenly infantry battles are much worse..... so, it was something in 1.31.

It is also quite pronounced, it didn't change by 10% or even 20%, but more like 100% or possibly even more. (though, it's possible I've noticed it seems maybe a bit better, not sure if they tweaking things server side or if I'm just getting used to it and learning how to play around it).

I have changed my game play due to it, and it is not near as fun battling people with the lag I now have verses before. The sluggish aspect of infantry play is the most annoying thing for me I think about this game, especially since I play almost all infantry. And we all know 'Infantry is the Queen of battle'.

Lag and FPS drop is not one specific element of a program, if something is trying to run in an effctive real time situation it is a combination of network, server, graphics and CPU that all combine together to give you a lagging or not smooth experience.

As to the OP is the issue stutters or LAG seeing other players move suddenly or getting killed seconds after you shoot them ?

LAG kills may not even be anything to do with your machine, as it relies on the other player to send the info to the server, server processes it and sends it to your client. If the other player has a slow connection or just has a network stutter then lag is introduced.

To all those who have xxmb broadband that is rock steady, congrats but rember your upload speed is a lot less and may not be as steady. Also between you and the server is a hell of a lot of routers, firewalls and other devices that can occasionally cause network stutter as route is changed or some router starts to fail. The internet is not a highway from a to b, it is a series of small back roads that makes you take numerous turns and small roads to get to your destination.

If your getting stutters then look to your machine and programs that are running. I know of many including myself who reduced stutters by defrag machine, updating drivers for sound and graphics, using game booster to get rid of programs that where hogging the CPU and memory in the background.

To other posters, why not help people a little and make a suggestion. The player is paying and supporting this game either as your team mate or target. You need both in the game otherwise there is no game.

Don't disagree that 1.31 has introduced a hell of a lot more complexity that has made it potentially lag for some people, and a general performance hit for everyone.

My comments are that Lag is not just one element but a combination of factors to an individual.

I am sure that CRS are working on the different areas to help alleviate this and it would be nice if it was flick one piece of code and magically it si better, reality is that it is 100's of diferent places that need to be reviewed and adjusted.

At least we are all in the same boat which balances it out.

I was also trying to help the OP understand the situation not just complain at the game or other posters..
