Building a couple towers would be very useful around a FB so people don't have to bore themselves by sitting there looking at nothing for hours on end.

We're meeting a helacious deadline with v1.32 dev.' date=' I'm just telling you this so you know.[/quote']

I can understand the pressures of getting the patch out asap. I never expected you to work on ai tomorrow but at least it is on the radar. Thanks.

You dont have to sit there for hours unless it is not in use. If it is being used for an attack, defending it or attacking it can easily be the most exciting and rewarding play in this game, pure adrenaline rush. Which is why the very thought of some player built, HQ alert, unarmed ai warning system, complete with directions, " enemy inf, east, south, north, west" dumbing the play down has my head spinning, *leaves the room looking for malox* I don't even know words to describe how uneasy it makes me feel just seeing it even being discussed, one of the few places on the map where you dont have a silly AI ruining the pvp immersion, and now we actually have talk of a player built AI at fb's *sigh*

The very fact that the enemy knows where you are and you know that they are coming to get you is exactly what makes an FB Battle the most exciting and rewarding play in the game.

Maybe all the hours I spent in a bunker and a FB since 2001 has made me sick of it. Expecting people to sit around and wait for something that may never arrive isn't appealing to the vast majority of people unless they are getting paid to do it. Nothing will chase a new player away quicker than boredom and standing around doing nothing and waiting is about as boring as it gets.

If you know they are approaching the FB the fight is good. But waiting and looking and waiting and looking for something that may never show up isn't fun, imo. Watching grass grow type of thing

So we need player built unarmed ai at the fb to fix that? I give up

Did you even read what I wrote about the fb's that are being used for attacks, is the place to be?

I've been at many many active FB's and standing around for ever and never seeing a single ei. Lots of air quake though.

If you setup a watch tower 1KM from the FB to give you a heads up it would enhance the game. Make it so you can stand in the tower with the AI if you wanted to.

If there are towers then people will have to take them out before attacking their target. Bomb them, shell them, take them out.

Instead of wussing out with a 'I give up' try to debate the issue with some thought. Can you see both sides of the issue?

If there was recon AI what would be some of the good and some of the bad? What is good and bad with the current system? What would create an atmosphere that is conducive to good gameplay and attract/retain new players? Is there anything you would change to the current system to make it more appealing?

no, if it aint broke dont fix it, and I have debated the issue untill I am out of breath, in fact I started the thread if you look far enough back, if you want to know what I said about it , scroll.

So the game is perfect as is?

I didn't say that' date=' but any dumbing down is a step in the wrong direction[/quote']

I don't see it as dumbing down the game. You are using AI in a role that isn't difficult but rather mundane and boring. Removing the most boring aspects of the game to make the game more appealing isn't, imo, dumbing down.

Dumbing down is making something that is difficult much easier.

So...warning a soldier of enemy approaching complete with directions , ne-se-nw-sw, isn't making a difficult job much easier? Think about what you just said, and playing at fb's isn't the most boring aspect of the game, your just playing at the wrong fb " no attack ao" As is playing at the fb, "When" being used for ao is the most exciting and rewarding, and the most difficult part of this game, thats why so many come when you call for help "sarc" And I for one will be very disappointed if they ever touch them.

I don't consider that a difficult job at all. It isn't hard to spot something and say 'ei ne'.

And you see no difference in that and having a ai do it for you, and it doesnt even have to see it?

I see a difference and it isn't perfect. But I do think it would be better for the game if people don't have to stand around looking at grass grow. Although, I do not like how the current HQ warning works. It is as if you have clairvoyance.

With recon towers it may change some strategy. An attacking force may issue orders to impair communication by taking out the towers before you move in which is a realistic approach. By taking out the towers it would give you a more stealthy approach.

With all due respect, if you are standing around watching grass grow, you are either #1 at the wrong base #2 your doing it wrong. See flashing red or green boxes if your having trouble. that is all
