Please use this thread for feedback on the FRU object placed by mission leaders.

Forward Resupply units:

The Forward Resupply Unit is a special type of PPO that can be placed bu a truck or the Mission Leader. This objects replaces the Mobile Spawn Point and Unmanned Mobile Spawn features in the current game with one that can be more easily placed by the mission leader. This is a first step in expanding the ways and means of entering the world and interacting with your group.

  • Trucks can no longer become MSPs
  • Instead a truck will place an object in the world that acts as Forward Resupply Unit
  • The truck may then continue on the mission or despawn leaving the object in the world
  • FRUs act as both an infantry spawn point and as a resupply point
  • All other rules associated with the placement of an MSP are still in effect including the one per mission limit
  • These objects may not be placed intersecting with other objects
  • They may be placed on cobblestone but not on airfields
  • Mission leaders can delete these from the map the same as an MSP now
  • When a Mission Leader places an FRU, any previous FRU for that mission is automatically deleted
  • Paratrooper Mission leaders do not get the FRU
  • Trucks place this object by using the deploy key to turn on the placement “ghost” and then again to place the object
  • Trucks must be stopped to place the object
  • The FRU can act as an RTB spot for infantry and paratroopers

Update:

After discussing the naming issues it was made clearer to me that and FRU is a Mobile Spawn. One of several types of Mobile Spawns that we might see in the future. We'll keep the MS when talking about the class and the FRU where we are talking in p[articular about this object. For now at least.

Known Issues:

  • The resupply function is not working on this object - FIXED
  • UI still uses truck and says MS - EXPEXTED FUNCTIONALITY
  • Map says MSPAWN - EXPECTED FUNCTIONALITY
  • "?ppos.irp.build?" when placing with a truck - NEEDS TEST
  • FRU cannot be placed on cobblestone #4649 - FIXED
  • lots of feedback in UI and HUD about when you cannot place one of these - Post Release 1.32.x

I drove to the sea towns in area 51 and you couldn't place a FRU(MSP) anywhere where there was a city tile(aka grey underground)

Just done some testing.

When placing FRU i get "?ppos.irp.build?" with ok and cancel

Uncertain whether thats intended for offline or beta or still needs fixing to place FRU or whatever your gonna put in box.

Seems okay, its really hard to place one in the large cities though. I tried placing one everywhere I went but could only do it outside of the cities.

Got RAFTER to destroy one with a grenade that I had placed near the FB. I didn't get a message that the MSP had been destroyed. It vanished, then he killed me. I respawned at the same location. No FRU visible.

Yep FRU's can be destroyed, they disappear, but are still active, so ppl can still respawn there. Happened everytime i destroyed one or when mine were destroyed.

One other thing I like to add to this on the FRU if dead bodies are on top of it, and the FRU is Moved the bodies stay floating in the air where it was. Minor detail, but still a bug.

Larger footprint than a truck. Sticks outside large bushes. It will be harder to hide, especially since the deforestation of 1.31.

Flags are a bit bright can see from quite a distance. Maybe you can dirty up the flags a bit.

Placement seems to work real good.

Overall I like it.

I think the cooldown is abit too fast currently, give a single ML the oppotunity to gain large amount of ground, set up, and repeat.

Is it possible to link this cool down to number of people on mission, the more people that are on your mission the quicker the cooldown timer?

That would be good, so busy missions are rewarded, while lonewolf missions are not as effective so to speak...signed...;) FRU's seem to be working fine now for me

I need some clarification,if possible.

Mission set.UMS deployed.I dump opel.I can spawn in,run around and seek a better ums position,relocate the FRU.Cool.As ML,I can seek better placements for spawning.

Thing is,as ML,I cannot set an IFP to defend my FRU.Is this corect?

Will I have to ask another player to place the IFP for me?Will I regain,as ML the ability to place

IFP,when I am a certain distance from that FRU?

Just found out that ML,cannot place an IFP..only FRU's.OK.

I must say that the FRU's are too way visible from any angle.That flag will be any armoured bullseye,scanning from a far distance.

Truck ems's where hideable in bushes,where these enplacements are far more visible.Remove the flag,mark the boxes with the side flag,throw some foliage around this puppy please.

Few things i ran into;

- Cannot place anywhere in the city and i did some snooping around. A truck we could park in corners where two walls of buildings touch or nicely alongside another building for that matter. I can understand if we cant place it inside a building but the margin around the FSU seems to be a mandatory 10m from any structure. Is there info on the margin as i would luv to see it at 1 or 2 meter. Also to be able to place some near gun emplacements and it would be problematic if they would have to be 10m away from it in the open. Although i wonder who would sit so close to ammo boxes in the middle of battle ;)

- If i spawn a truck and setup an FSU, then spawn a sapper through the FSU and prepare to setup a gun emplacement i see the transparent FSU model instead of the gun emplacement model to place.

- If i spawn a sapper it allows me to setup 1 gun emplacement and then only FRU's.

- The flag was mentioned. Making it more dirty may be it what we have nothing in the game world that is white or red as a flag so it will still stand out imo. Preferable drop the flag down on the lower smaller crates or just add a simple logo or helmet on a crate (allied or axis) to show who's it is.

- I had moments where the transparent FSU model showed me an axis flag whilst i spawned allied. It may have been constantly but i thought i saw an allied flag on there earlier.

Very fun, cant wait to see them in action :)

Issue:

Mission leader sets up FRU, moves 500 meters, hides, waits for FRU to be found and destroyed, sets up new FRU and moves 500 meters again, hides, repeat repeat ...

or

Mission leader dies in the field, FRU is destroyed before he can spawn in, he makes another mission member mission leader, who then sets up a new FRU, mission leader spawns back in and takes over mission again, repeat repeat...

Both makes it almost impossible to stop attacks as long as you have just one surviving member on the mission.

Possible solution:

Make it so that the FRU is destroyed if

Mission leader dies

or

Mission leader moves further away than say 2-300 meters

and

Introduce a 5 min delay when someone takes over a mission until they can setup FRU´s

I could not place FRU today. It was near Gedinne - Haybes Fb. I was beta testing, using a Opel truck. It would show that the FRU was complete and then it would say mobile spawn not available. I took some video with a digital video camera. I tried placing the FRU a few times with no luck.

Did you get a message saying that you were in range of placing a ms before you placed it?

I think the FRU stays green anywhere on the map but can't be placed until you are within range of your objective.

I did get the target is with in range message. I went close to the target and then turned around and drove away. I had placed FRU's before without a problem. I'll try again later.

Imho, it should survive because it's defended, not hidden. It's supposed to be the mission hq, not a magical invisible portal...
