FRU's

CRS,please look into keeping the opel/laffy/beddy initial spawn in.Have ML's decide if they want to discard the opel, making a FRU with thier infantry, after spawning into the game world.

FRU's are way to visible. That flag is a target rich magnet bullseye, seen from any distance. The game dinamics,in a over populated world, will have the FRU killed in seconds.,by ramdon fire from inf/et/ea.

One thing is testing in a closed server with few people, nother is a populated server, with pans/232's.EA searching&pin pointing the FRU.Once spotted,a rifle shot takes it down.

Please keep the trucks and, have the ML an oprion to relocate the FRU as needed,or deemed necessary.

And by all means, prettiest please remove the flag on that box,for both sides. Its horrible, too visible and you can see it from 300 meters away,in any bush.

Redo the FRU with a camo net and some bushes to protect it a bit from being seen far away. One way or another,it will get traced by the ant trail coming from it but...give it a better chance of survival

Listen to the palyers who fight in heavy populated areas, where as it is,the FRU's wont stand a chance.

Please

S!

I agree that hiding them, especially by initial truck placement, is very difficult. I do think that an ML will park truck "mile away from target" and then go in on foot to find a better place. Maybe that is the intention?

It is a little easier once you are placing on foot (just easier to be in the right spot in cover).

But I also agree that they are much easier to spot (I can walk 10m to the right of an opel parked in a bush and never see it - that won't be true of the crates).

However, given the portability, I think there needs to be some down-side?

That said - Isn't the issue, really:

.Once spotted,a rifle shot takes it down.

If they could only be killed by HE/nade/satchel then they might survive a little longer?

Further, I sort of like the idea that they can only be killed by "captured" ... be within 10m for 30-seconds ... or something. That would increase camping, but I'm not one to be overly bothered by that.

At the minute, I can see FRU making players walk further because the only way to hide them is to widen the search area by moving them further away from target. My personal opinion on that is: great!

But I doubt that was the intention?

This issue is gonna be hard to predict until it goes live. I've seen the FRU's pretty well hidden at times, but overall definately easier to spot. Flags on the box have to go, I agree.

The difference is, you can place these silently where as a truck doesn't get that chance. That is not a small difference so I do think there needs to be a trade off of some sort.

The way to go will be bring a single truck in, but carry several different mission leaders on board. Or to really be sneaky, use a Ju52/C47 and land several mission leaders max distance (the transport immediately despawns on safe landing), have mission leaders pick out all the best spots and away you go.

Can you immagine what this will do in big towns?

I think FRUs can be hidden nicely, but Id like to see it so that trucks can deploy MSPs as before and only infantry can place FRUs.

Trucks can deploy instantly , or at least a lot faster, then the inf placed FRUs p[erhaps should take a while longer to deploy.

Also - we cant deploy MSPs inside, or even close to buildings anymore last time I tried. E.g depots, churches etc

I think they could replace the flag with a country-based "sticker" on the radio, or something like that—much smaller, so much less likely to give away the position.

If Infantry can place FRU's then it will be impossible to establish a Zone Of Control anywhere. The mission leaders will just hide, it's very easy to hide as infantry.

And those things are very easy to spot. They're yellow and the flags don't help either. Aslo it would help if they had icons on them like, "FRU" the way "UMS" is displayed now. Sometimes you can't tell if it is friendly or enemy.

We found when actually playing with them that they are harder to find than trucks were. Of course, you can park them in the middle of a field and they aren't very hard to find then. Placed in smart places, even when you knew where they were; they weren't that easy to spot at all.

Not to mention that though they may be easier to find (if you're not good at placing them) they're also a lot easier to place.

I don't think most players, and by that I mean everyone but the 40 people who joined us for the focus test, have really had a chance to play with these in a real live fire environment.

i spent an hour fighting in a field between two of these things and a bunch of PPOs and though we both knew where the enemy was coming from we damn sure couldn't do much about it. Some of the best time I've spent in the game, and that's saying a lot.

Still I wish we had more chance to get feedback from these during fights but we just can't get enough people on for the focus tests.

Having been here all this time, I believe that however much testing is done, you will still see completely different results once it has been live for a week.

There's loads of examples of players figuring out how to do something unexpected ...

... Just be prepared to tweak fru / ifp after the game-pop has had a week to mash up how you thought they would be used, gopher ;)

Oh yeah. Testing is just a series of events intended to catch varying levels of obviously broken things.

We have a lot of experience sure but players will always surprise you. Case in point until this week it would have never occurred to me that someone would park a tank on a gun emplacement to shoot over an AB wall.
