Sitting in my M5 or whatnot, scoped in with the gunner. if i pan around while scoped in the bushes at the sides of the sight don't render for a little bit, lets me see past them for a few seconds as i move left to right.

Yea I just started to notice this well. Never last more the 1 second though. And doesn't do it everytime.

2 year old Acer laptop

1.9 AMD

8400m Nvidia graphics card

Win 7 64

4Gb ram.

Everything tweaked as far as I can go.

This was discussed a couple weeks ago (maybe in the conference call?), something about "frustrum" something-or-other.

If I recall correctly it has to do with an attempt by the game code to only bother rendering stuff in your field of vision, in order to reduce the overall load on your GFX card processor.

So when you pan quickly, some of the bushes that are not part of the terrain itself, but are part of the generated clutter placed *on* the terrain, (not "radial" clutter, that's different entirely), have a slight lag as they are defined as "within field of view" and then rendered.

Since the terrain doesn't get affected by this, and enemy have a completely different algorithm for being rendered (having nothing to do with field of view, but affected by distance and unit type compared to your unit type), you sometimes see an enemy behind a bush for a split second before that bush gets rendered.

So that's an explanation of why/how this happens.

Fixing it is another matter. Changing the field-of-render to be wider than the field-of-view means a *lot* more stuff for your GFX processor, and therefore lower frame rates....

Much as Romzy's posting style can give me headaches (and the fact that he's "NEVAR WRONG!!"), that post pretty much nails it on the head.

romz you['re] my damn hero

Ya know, at first Romsburg, you rubbed me the wrong way and I wasn't a fan. But over the past 12 months, you have really grown on me. You're precise, well spoken and although you are sometimes a little harsh, you are most often correct and in proper context with your responses.

If you're going to argue with Romz, do your homework before you post. He gets it, and you can't teach common sense, you have to be born with it.

I can't say [any]thing else [than] that the ban was justified considering that you have an 'impressive' TOS history....
