Since I downloaded 1.31my FPS dropped from 30-40 down to 0-7. Any ideas why? I've updated all my drivers, and here are my comp specs:

Intel Pentium 4 3Ghz

2046MB RAMM

Geforce 7800 GS

Speedtest has my DL at 7MB/s and UL at 2MB/s, ping at 74ms

There's your problem.

Edit: 7800 GS. Is that an AGP card?

I've been playing this game just fine for many years with that card. Something with the new patch is causing this problem. I've had the cable guy out to check the modem which is sitting around 25MB/s, I've updated all my drivers, I've stopped any and all unecessary processes, fixed my registry, defragged my HD.

Every time I log into game my FPS start around 17 which is very low for me, and soon drop to 3. Then after a few spawns I start to stutter from 3-20 FPS like a stop and go. Something is definetely game related causing this. Can I get some RAT help here?

how old is the 7800 ?

if it's older than 2 years then how well it has run the game previously is not a good indication for the future

the nature of this business called gaming requires that gear older than 2 years not be considered "supportable" ... although we do try as hard as we can to keep the old war horses going we cannot always fulfill that desire

I'm only having the problem on the ground. No stuttering in the air.

That is very strange. At first I would say that 1.31 was a complete engine upgrade and I wouldn't expect much goodness on a nv7 series card.

What is your performance like in the air fps wise?

I don't have any similar reports to go on here so I don't have a magic bullet.

I could give you a link to an older version of the game you could try.

Are you having the same issues offline?

Did you select best performance in preferences?

In the air as long as it's not raining I stay around 20 FPS.

Offline I am getting around 10-30 FPS. I am not seeing the 3-30 stuttering I'm seeing on the live server.

I do have best performance selected, and I've went through the decreased all settings as low as they go. Still getting the problem ingame.

The vid card is old, but I'm sure I'm not the only one playing with an old vid-card. If noone else is getting this problem, it could be something else.

I can't understand why noone has said the obvious.

The problem is not your graphics card, it's your CPU. It's ancient really. It's just not up for it anymore.

Offline you are only running the game. Online you also are dealing with all the units being drawn, position updates on them, blastics updates.

So yea online will garner lower fps anytime there are players around.

You can test this offline by ...

  • launch offline
  • at persona select type ".benchremagen"
  • hit "Enter World"
  • let frame rate stabilize and record it
  • in world type ".benchvehicles"
  • let frame rate stabilize and record it

This s a rough approximation of what other units will do to your performance though in a live environment it will be worse as the units are moving about.
