Bug on S76 commander cant be killed #5008

New bug tested on training server

Park S76 just under veh roof

Walk Rifleman up on top of veh jump down on S76

Unbutton commander place shots on commander

Notice no damage

I thought if you touched an enemy tank you died? You can jump on top of them?

park it under veh and jump down on it

You only die if it moves

It's not right completely. You will die when you are spotting in his direction of moving, but you can die on sides at turn break also, opposite side of gun at shoting etc.

You can touch vehicle, vehicles can't touch you !

Update did some more testing.

The S76 and the Sheman has the same issue.

1.st The commander can be killed but to kill him you dont aim at the graphical presentation in game.

The commanders damage model for the sherman's are located in the middle of the turret and starts above a halfheight above the turret deck.

I was to precise in my firing .

For any one new to the game have a look at the wiki under damage model.

Basically any AFV in this game has a grapical model and a damage model.

Grapical model is what you see while the damage model is invisible and you can give damage to another player if you hit the damage model.

To find the damge model for the 2 Shermans commander when he is up you take a MG and start shooting at the middle of the turret above the turret deck and start working upwards eventually you will have painted a nice picture of it by seeing bullets holes hanging in the middle of the air above the middle of the turret.

Now this makes it harder to hi1 for 1 thing but it also leaves him much more vunerable as the enemy will be able to hit him even though the Sherman is hull down. Also getting spall damage on him is easier

Once you pull the commander down the Commander damage model should be fully inside the tank again at least thats what I have found so far but I could be wrong and will test if I can generate spall damage when hes buttoned up to

The misplacement of the damage model I have indentified so far on

Normal Sherman commander

Sherman S76 commander

M10 Tailgunner

I hope writing down will suffice for being able to replicate the issue and get a fix for it.

But since nobody seem to be reading nowadays I will properly have to make pictures or make a video and post it on Youtube

So basically once you know where to aim he's easier to kill than properly the designers intended

May need to rebuild the .mdl for this guy. Doesn't seem fixed to me.

BTW does that meant the tailgunner damage model has been moved down into correct position also ?

TOTO looked at the TG and didn't see a problem. I'll have to test that again and see if I can find the issue and show it to him.

M4a3(76) Sherman - 1 shot to commanders head, dead (fixed)

M10 Wolverine - 1 shot to commanders head, dead (fixed) ... AA gunner (pos 4) so NOT fixed

M4a2 Sherman - 1 shot to commanders head, dead (fixed)

So basically we still have that situation where pos 4 (AA gunner) in the M10 the damage model is about 2 feet too high, relative to the visible model. He still dies, he's just fubar WRT alignment of the two models (damage/invisible and visible) ... I think that was what vonkurt meant when he said "tail gunner". Pos 4, the AA gunner.

Right on Doc if you hit him in the head its says chest hit.

Remeber if you spawn the account doing the shooting last you have to move the tail gunner to show the correct state

As the tail gunner has the same bug as the turrets aka not showing the correct state/direction until turret/or tailgunner has moved while being seen by the shooter

Even then when you shoot the damage model is to high. 2 feet sounds right.

Again a quick way to make the damage model visible just spray 50 bullets at him with LMG, the bullest holes will be hanging over the visible model.
