Been wanting to expand my knowledge base but 99% of the links in long term sticky are not working or redirect to retail sites.

Any help would be appreciated.

They don't work :D

Yesterday I placed 3 satchels on a Pan on all sap spots I know: the shield on the door, the "crossed out" space on the back, and the side of the turret, neither one did get him. Finally I placed one from behind, under him, hoping that it would flame his engine. Didn't do anything besides blowing all his wheels off :D. By that point he became annoyed and started looking around, I stuck my rifle into drivers observation slit and killed the crew :P.

That's some hardcore example that happens once a million times, but it's better to know more or less where the critical vehicle components are and understand how satchels work, than rely on magical sap spots.

There are no "Sapper/ATR etc" spots.

What there are, are critical components beneath the armour that we aim to hit with our weapon of choice.

I will by all means accompany anyone to the Training server ( if it's back up) and help them blow anything up.

Now and again spots appear to move due to CRS remodelling some armour/internal components. Unfortunately the nerf/whine brigade come out and think it's a huge conspiracy to nerf them.

CRS haven't got the time to implement new things half the time, let alone nerf their equipment all the time.

He's probably replying to:-

Some of the tried an true spots don't seem to be working like they used to. I guess CRS is mixing it up this campaign.

This is incorrect on a few counts.

1. To change a vehicle requires that you download a patch to your game client containing that change, and that the server be reconfigured for the new client. So this doesn't happen (cannot happen) "for a campaign" unless there was a patch intended for this purpose that you downloaded making it possible.

2. There are no "sapper spots" just places where the weapon interacting with the internal components once a penetration is achieved, causes damage to those internal components and the subsequent event consequences of that achievement following suit.

3. Unless a vehicle has been remodeled (none have recently) since these things called sapper spots aren't actual spots we can move around (they don't exist) what you are really talking about is the weapon and it's ability to penetrate the vehicle has to be changed in data (we haven't done this recently either) ... or a bug (unintended consequence of some other change) has crept into the project.

4. We are not currently interested in making any change to weapons/vehicles that would fit the mindset of "changing sapper spots" so if it has occured (and this needs to be verified through much controlled testing not just "because I said it changed" if you understand why that is) ... so if you THINK something changed try to use controlled testing to figure out what and how and where and we'll look at it in case there's a bug there.

We certainly have had no intention of changing those dynamics at any point I can recall in the last 5 or 6 years, or more ... and thus have not made any such change. Be careful you don't fall into the nerf brigade mindset where everything changed because that's what they want to think was done. Provide solid evidence of a bug and some way to replicate it (and evidence it is different than previously to validate that it is a bug causing a change) and we will look at it.

Don't believe the nerf brigade. Your game time will forever be sullied into something less fun if you do. Or we're liars, if that seems more likely, but I doubt it myself. I can speak for myself, and the team I work with to some degree, but I can't speak for you. ;)

PS: regarding the original request for "where to sap a vehicle" if you ask in the barracks that 1 simple question (and avoid the rage arguments that will certainly follow) I am sure someone who is better at sapping vehicles than arguing the point will be happy to tell you and even point you to information around the web that will assits in this pursuit. I am not that person but many players are.

PPS: this was closed because it isn't really a bug report, but it could become one if someone has some testing to report.
