The depots where inf spawn, get the depot snipers sniping through the railings but unable to shoot back through the railings.

Using win 7 64

i5 760 at 3.6ghz

8gb ram 1600mhz

asus gtx 470

Have also tried this on Radeon HD 5850 and still get same result.

All settings on max

Two days ago I spawned a rifle in a depot, ran down to the garage and tried to shoot an ei standing in the garage. I was kneeling down, fired, but the shot was blocked by the railing. The bullet impact mark was clearly in the gap between the railings, the posts and the edge of the platform.

I'll wait for a ticket on this until we can get some feedback in the 1.33 testing.

Both my 5850 and 260GTX shoot through railings live and beta.

I wonder if it matters if building is destroyed?

I am now again not able shoot through railings? Weird, as for a while I couldn't shoot through them. Then it fixed itself and I was fine. But yesterday, my shots bounced off the railing and the ei killed me?

Very strange, for the I go days with not being able to shoot through the railing, then weeks of being able to?

@delems

Ok, there has to be a driver or game setting that is causing this. We need some detective work if we're going to figure it out.

I use an iMac, so video doesn't change. Also, don't think I have changed any of my settings (though, did you for a short while.. hmm). Now I'm back to normal settings and everything seems fine.

I tried full graphics settings for a short while, but don't know if that coincided with the railing problem. Now I'm back to balanced and my SMG and rifle shoot through railings fine.

I wonder, could it be just certain railings that don't work?

ok, this appears to be a settings thing. I have been plagued by the problem for over 2 months and finally quit worrying about it since I heard that the 1.33 alpha took care of it. But I had already tried updated nvidia drivers (260gtx) and reinstalling the game from absolute scratch.

Well not quite scratch, I kept my cfml files and my wwiionline.xml file and it looks like something in the latter was the culprit. Once I moved that tonight, reran the settings exe and then set preferences to balanced, all was good. I tampered with some other stuff like max sounds and am still ok.

So I don't know which setting or combination it is, but it is going to involve the alpha channel I imagine. Anyway, try this and see if the new xml file that is generated takes care of the issue.

Tried with the max graphics settings and all seemed fine, so that doesn't seem to have anything to do with it. Right now works fine for me.

Installed a Nvidia G210 (cheap card), had to mess with Control Panel settings, to get a playable FPS, end result, now cant shoot through railings again!

Will test when i get my Nvidia GTX460....

Make sure when you test you always use the same railings in the same place. I wonder if some railings (or even parts of railings) work and some don't which might lead people to think its working/not working.

Works for me now (1.32 live) with my gtx 460 did not work with my 9800gt and G210. (although it did work with my G210) but i had to change settings in nvidia control panel to get playable fps, so probably has something to do with drivers/setup of drivers).
