Explains why when i played axis and hit a spitfire with 3 20mm rounds in the body with a quick slideshot burst never did anything.

This is not a bug. For reasons that cannot be determined now (as the artist concerned no longer works here) the break point in the rear fuselage of one of the Spitfire models is modeled differently to all the other aircraft. Until we can remodel that aircraft from scratch, we have emulated the flight aspect of that level of damage to the tail surfaces.

ie: at the point where you would lose the tail in anything else, we make the flying surfaces ineffective (thus, virtually removing the tail even though you can still see it attached) ... so while visually it's still there (and would not be in another similar type of aircraft) it isn't helping you to stay in control.

If the plane flies off seemingly unaffected, it hasn't yet received enough damage to remove the tail in those cases where other similar aircraft would lose their tails.

We don't like this differance in modeling things existing in that one case where it was modeled that way. When there is time to schedule towards rectifying this anomaly we will correct it.
