Repost since I'm leaning toward this being a bug rather than a problem on my end.

REPORT:

ONLINE:

When attempting to log into the Beta server, it will load up to "Login Complete" on splash screen then immediate CTD. Did reinstall, redownload, shut off all non-essential processes on my end to see if there was any possible conflict, result was same across multiple attempts. All attempts were done with administrative privileges and firewall exception.

OFFLINE:

When attempting to play offline, it will get up to "Initializing Sound" on the splash screen then immediate CTD. As with above, turned off all non-essential processes and reinstalled, result was same across multiple attempts. All attempts were done with administrative privileges.

I HAd this issue, then uninstalled with REVO uninstaller. This allows me to get rid of all the registry entries for the old BE test. Re installed, and got it to work.

Did everything I could think of to pin this on an end user error and I have come up dry. Same error regardless of what I do or do not do, no question in my mind this is a bug.

reinstall with antivirus disabled?

Would affect more than this install and have never had this problem except for this application.

run a scan disk on your gaming drive?

I do one better: Use SeaTools once a month, hard drive is operating correctly

Could be that the Xaudio2 stuff ins't being installed correctly. It is done as a silent install and may not be completing before you... Well hell I don't know.

Are you admin on the machine?

Found solution: In the settings choose something else then primary sound driver and you will get in.

I changed my sound option from primary to the one underneath and it seems to have got past the splash without a CTD. Neat!

Related note: On my machine changing audio device doesn't really do anything, what ever I put in settings it always uses windows default audio device which sucks donkey balls as i have to change default device every single time i want to play :)

Me too Solo but there's basically no information here for me to try and replicate or fix.

I've tested 6 machines in house and none of them fail to load wiuth default audio device selected in settings.exe.

What's different with your setups?

Dunno.

Need sys specs.

Mighta found it.

Realtec onboard audio.

Loaded the beta up on a old rig with realtec audio.

Would crash the game on loadup if game sound is set to primary device.

Well then I did'nt find it :(

This rig which has soundmax audio loads the game set to primary sound devise on both 64 and 32 bit OS'

The old xp rig with realtek audio will not load the game set to primary sound device.

  • 3 weeks later...

Had the same problem with the same solution. Runnin with Realtek audio, ATI Radeon HD4850 graphics, and E8400 dual core. Common themes seem to be Realtek audio and ATI HD4800 or 5800 series.
