i do believe the plane gets lost due to it being destroyed thus giving whom ever the kill that shot you last, but the player gets a RES

Quick question....if you bail out in res range do you get res? or is plane lost from spawn list?

If you don't get plinked it will come back to the spawnlist in 15 minutes.

I had a really awkward situation happen to me today, first time its ever happend to me, and prolly the last. However might have seen it happen a time or two to planes ive been shooting at.

Anyway so what happend was i got bounced by a D520 and had a extended drag, maybe 3-4 grid squares in which he shot my wing off, but i was so low to the ground already that the plane just ditched. So i was on the ground, on fire, smokeing, and missing a wing. was so frustrated i just kinda sat there for like 5min or so when i hit ESC to return to spawn list my plane completely exploded and then started a RES timer, after 10 seconds I hit ok, getting a RES and no one got kill credit on me.

Yeah I still don't get this either.

Yesterday I was in a 110 and closed on a Spit and of course he heard me and broke left. I had one chance and fired, hurt him pretty good on a difficult deflection shot. He started smoking brown and when I noticed he wasn't pursuing, just gliding away, I turned to follow. He took to his chute when he saw me closing.

No kill for me.\\

C'mon man. :(

Moved to bug reporting because:

if you hit (damaged) an enemy plane and he bails out, you are supposed to be awarded a kill for forcing him to bail out, and this now needs to be tested since you seem to be claiming this doesn't work

You are claiming that, correct ?

There is one proviso: if 60 seconds elapses without further damage to the plane, and he bails, it is assumed he "got away" and no kill will be awarded

The "I blew up after ditching" thing is different altogether. In order to increase "battle coolness" of the gameworld during a fight, if a vehicle despawns with damage we automatically blow it up. Despawing after being damaged in the middle of a fight shouldn't be considered an easy way to escape the consequences of losing a fight. It looks cool for the other players too, which is the real reason we did it this way.

There are 2 tickets in our bug tracking database related to this, so it is still a work in progress.

Well Doc I did hit him hard but it was definitely over 60 seconds before he bailed so that is why I did not get the kill. Don't think I'd consider this a bug since this seems to be what is supposed to happen.

Ahh ok then

PS: the 60 second thing is simply that we have to set a point where we aren't going to "track back" the killer because he died and the wounded bird almost made it home 30 minutes after his killer died, you know what I mean ? So we had to pick a point that represented an average "would he be out of view range yet ?" and figured that a full minute would cover the majority of those situations. Not ideal just a good compromise, unfortunately "real life" is what people want but it's not usually possible to replicate that expectation perfectly.
