Sound issues 1.33 Beta

During the stress test yesterday, I noticed that alot of the sound effects lower to the point of mute if I look in the opposite direction. For example, If i hear an EI shooting in front of me some where, but I do a 180 and turn around, I suddenly do not hear the EI's gun fire at all anymore. If I turn right back around, I will hear him. Same for the SHERMAN that was circiling the city of Verdun, they usually are loud and looking at a different direction completely muted the sound of his engine.

Anyone else have the same issues? Anyway, this is one issue I found that stood out largely for me as soon as I logged into the Chaos. Thank you.

Sounds are directional and part of how "directional" works in the game environment is to vary the volume based on how you are facing relative to the sounds source. That isn't to say that there isn't an issue for you, as "vary in volume" shouldn't mean "to the point of not hearing it".

However, I haven't (nor have the testers I am speaking to every day) noticed that there is a problem of the severity you mention. Perhaps the "left/right/behind" variation is greater than one would expect, but that's hard to quantify and it does help identify direction easily if you have a simple stereo speaker set-up.

We do have an issue where "left" and "right" are not identical where they should probably be. We're working on that currently. This however, doesn't sound like what you are experiencing.

We're going to need more info on your set-up because without it, we're only guessing ... and it's much easier to guess wrong than it is to guess right.

Hi there

Check your settings for the game you got 2 choises Hardware and Software I use hardware then

Your windows settings are you using 5.1 or stereo does it correspond to your actual hardware setup

Test your speakes setup using the sounds aplpet if you receive sounds where you expect it.

Only impact I have with low FPS is that the sounds move from my left right front speakers to my center speaker.

Whcih seems to indicate that the sounds are calculated in relation to my position in the vehicle but I never loose my sounds on the back speakers.

The positional sound system is very precise in this game. If I turn my center speaker off I will never have the same sound in on at he same time on my left or right speaker it wil be either left or riht and I can turn my head a 10th off a degree and it will shift so as I said very good positional sound.

So do the test.

Cheers
