You mey not have gotten the xaudio installed correctly. Try downloading the full installer and running it again giving it plenty of time before you launch to run the background silent install.

I got some error about a missing xaudio DLL the first time I ran the game after the patch. Second and subsequent launches, it works fine though.

Xaudio does a silent install at the end of the download. There might be an instance where you can get the game launched before it is finished.

I had it set so that the install wasn't manual but half my beta testers skipped the installation by hitting cancel and then were surprised when the game wouldn't run.

I'll see if I can move it up higher in the install.
